I couldn't believe this so I checked it over a few times. Took a rip to Manning Park and up top of a mountain. Mostly highway miles with average speed nearing 140kmh, a couple times up to 180 and a bit A little V-Tech from time to time. Burning low end fuel. 51 MPG.

Bike is an 06 and pure stock. 55,000km on it. Have used synthetic since new. Jayson....what are you doing wrong my friend?

Very worthy of note I think is that many of us like the roar of the engine and tend not to up shift early. Guaranteed when I hit 100kmh, I am in 6th gear and adjust accordingly at lower speeds. I think this makes a tremendous difference.

Randy I am hoping that I will get close to the same on the hwy. I have a trip planned next weekend with lots of hwy, we'll see how I do. Normal riding I shift around 6k, when I'm playing around 9k. My regular commuting and our full days of fun usually yield the same mileage. If I can say anything, my mileage is very stable no matter what I am doing. Looking fwd to seeing how the trip works out. I'm going to try different things on different legs to see what happens.

The other thing is that you bike is nicely broken in having 55k on it. Mine still feels like it's settling itself out to some degree.

So yours is stiff?:jaw::spankme: OOOOPS Typo there!

I run mine at around 4500 to 5000 rpm in the city and whatever it goes to on the highway, very often much higher but as I said, when I hit the 100 - 105kmh range, I shift it into 6th.....unless I am playing of course. I am not saying I do this mind you.

Well just got my 32K service done at 33k miles, have now put on about 600 miles since the service. Huge increase in gas milage. I now get about 48-52 mpg on the freeway, compared to the best before of 44mpg.

Averaging right at 40mpg, 2007 VFR800A. Commuting to work mostly highway, some stop and go, pleasure trips, carrying my 220lb geared self plus probably 50+ pounds of side bags, trunk, tools, water bottles, etc. For cruising I generally try to stay between 4500-5500 otherwise it seems like its lugging a little bit.

I got 38 mpg in the city this first fill up. I've only put on about 200 miles since I got the bike.

I got back from a trip to North Carolina and I got between 50 and 55 MPG. When were on the twisty roads I got in the high 40s. From what I have seen I drop when I ride to work. I ride interstate in traffic so I ride a gear or two down and I get low 40s. I tried 89 octane and didn't notice much difference but right now I'm using 87 and it seems to have dropped way off. I'll probably try 87 again just to see if I'm crazy but if I'm not I'll be back to the higher octane.

I went on a 210 Mile Ride today, we stopped to fuel up for the last leg of the trip - I checked the mileage and it was 51 MPG. We rode moderate and I was running 91 Octane Chevron.

Anyone changing the gearing on the bikes? If so, what changes have you made and how has it affected your mileage???

Chilliwack to Enderby via Kelowna and Back

Well Folks. This was an 800+ km trip. I burned 87 fuel. On the way from Chilliwack to Kelowna, which for you our of province folk, it is all up hill. I was averaging about 170 - 180 KMH all the way. (very early Sunday morning). The trip back was averaging probably about 130 - 140 KMH Lots of Vtech and I still got 44.? MPG. I certainly am not disappointed in that. Some day I will have to "Try" to do that trip sticking to the speed limit and see what I can squeeze out of Chea Chea. I have decided to be like Trickygirl and name the bugga. Chea Chea was my Grandfather on my dad's side. He was a stubborn 'ol Scot

I just got back from doing a 800k trip as well... Summerland for me. I averaged about 44mpg on the way up and 39mph on the way down. On the way down I too hit some not so great for mileage speeds and was in a killer headwind the entire ride. I'm happy with 44 on the hwy. My bike is still young, I think it will only get better the more it breaks in. I'll post a minor ride report later, in the middle of work right now ... :rambo:

Just as a side note for us CDN's. After tracking my mileage on our Baker trip I realized that due to the gas prices having a bike that is 37mpg in the US would require a bike that is 44mpg in Canada to equal the same fuel costs. Another reason to move to Oregon.

Time to chime in again!! I haven't been able to ride as much as I would like to this summer. My recent trip to Mid-Ohio for the AMA Superbike weekend I got consistant high 47 mpg. Cortech Tri-bag a mix of slab and secondary roads. Route 30 solo to the track and Amish country with three buddies in a group on the way back. Average speed 10 mph over the posted limit. On the return home leg plenty of VTEC.

    BUMP for 2009

Ok folks, another season has gone by. If anyone has any significant changes to their mileage feel free to submit them.

Please state "update" or "new" so I don't have to scan through all the names for no reason.

Over my previous 750 mile trip my lowest was 39mpg and highest was 49mpg. So the average would be 44mpg.
This was mainly fast and smooth riding and I tried to keep it below the V-tec. I would say I was riding semi-conservatively. I definitely wasn't driving like the old man in the Buick, Y'know what I mean?:frusty:

I'm reading Lee Parks' book called "Total Control" and I'm trying to become as smooth of a rider as possible. It's a fabulous book, by the way, highly recommended.
