Just want to say hi to fellow 5th genners!

I had a 4th gen for a year and loved it. I came across this 5th and decided to try it out. So far - so good!

I see "gsus" had a question about black...this one's called "Mute Black Metallic" and was available in Canada in '98 along with Red and Silver.

Once I get into it I'll need to look into , "de-flappering" and "starter valve syncs" and all the new things I need to learn.

    Cheers,

    Bryan

That's one intimidating looking bike. You should name it Darth Vader.

This makes me wonder why they have different colors for different countries even with the same year. I think it has to do with cost and marketing. Probably in Canada a lot of people like black motorcycles but in USA everyone wants red.

    Nice!

After a few rides remember to post up a report, pointing out differences between the two.

I too came off a 4th gen onto my '01 and I love it!
I like my red, but the black looks great too.

compliments kingsley! your bike looks full of charm with this deep black colour..
for me could be the best if you should replace front signal lens with a clear o smoked one and change the rear lens group with a led clear one...
you'd move in a flash its years age and your bike could looks almost new!
    (is only a my suggestion...)
    have a nice w.end!
    ciao

Thanks for the compliments guys. This bike is far from mint, it's got a crack inside the front fairing, lots of scratches and it's been down before. Just like black cars... you wash it and go through a construction zone and all the dust stands right out. It does have a mysterious look about it at night though...oooohh.

Good idea on the clear lenses, that would be nice.

Chomper and I went for a ride last night and swapped bikes for a while. I feel privileged to ride a 4th, 5th and 6th gen all within a week!
