    Hello everyone,
Newbie vfr750 owner. I just purchased the bike last weekend for $2300 with 20,000 miles. Bike is in pretty good condition and runs (ran) very well. I really like the bike, but stumbled across a problem the other night when I tried to start the bike. When I turn the ignition on, I get no power at all. The digital clock even turns off. When I turn the ignition off, the clock comes back on. I checked the battery and it is putting out a good charge. The battery is supposedly fairly new. Now I have been reading up on this bike and know that the r/r are suspect on these bikes. I have been searching through the forums and am not sure if this is what the problem is. I jumped the bike and it started up and ran fine, until I revved it up and it backfired and stalled. Any help would be appreciated because I am dieing to get this bike back on the road as I have only put 300 miles on it before it died.

This probably doesn't apply, but i suppose it's worth a shot. Try and clean all contacts. My car would do that sometimes, minus the backfire and stall, but under a load (starter) would do nothing. You may have tried this already, i'm sure. Good luck with the issue and i do have a vested interest as mine may join yours (hopefully not) in the future.

Another thing, i didn't know the 1990 VFR750F had a digital clock. Maybe i got screwed on mine.

Yes, mine is a 1990 vfr750. Red, US version. Has a small digital clock on the dash, pretty sure it is stock.
