I'm looking for a new pair of sun glasses that will fit inside my Shoei helmets. I prefer to wear sun glasses under a clear face shield because carrying a tinted shield as well and switching them is more difficult than glasses that fit inside a pocket.
I have a pair of Bolle cycling glasses (Edge II) that have been fantastic for almost 10 years but slowly got more and more scratches and a few nicks where I dropped them.
I tried on a bunch of difference glasses today but it's tough to find something that fits tight against my temples so I can slide them on.
Are there any popular glasses out there that fit inside helmets? I know I'm not the first one to look

I rock the BLU-BLOCKERS. I swear, I'm not joking. The fit really good inside my helmet and the lenses are so big that they offer a decent amount of eye protection even with my visor up. I guess I'm just old enough to practice function over fashion.

I just wear my prescription glasses underneath my lid. They fit with plenty of clearance on my HJC CL-15. My glasses are pretty loose fitting on my face (they won't stay on if I look straight down on hot day), but i've never had a problem in almost 6k miles I've been riding with them coming off or close to it. I even mostly ride with my face shield up, but I also have a super mondo windshield.

Derstuka sports a shoei and like you, also wears standard sunglasses underneath, with plenty of room to spare from what I've seen.

When I flew on choppers for the AF some of the guys wore Wiley X's and liked them. I usually just carry two shields myself. If I only take my clear shield I'll wear Oakleys underneath. Mine are Splices but most of their plastic frames are thin and slide under a helmet easily. You can also order whatever lens tint suites you best.

Vuarnet are excellent glasses with beautifully clear lenses. The arms are very flat and have comfortable grip-pads at the ends. I have no trouble wearing them with my Shoei.

I ride with a pair of Oakley Monster Dog.
Initially I was just using them when skiing, but I found out that they fitted under my Arai helmet as well. :thumb:

They gave us a pair of Wiley-X's ( don't remember what style). in the military but I didn't much care for them although they would fit nice under the helmet. They were like suction cups to my eye sockets and fogged up pretty good. I've been using Oakleys when I ride for the last 4 years.... M Frame I think. They work like a charm.

I've had my Smith Hudsons for about a 1 1/2 years now. Awesome. Fit great. Polarized and polychromatic. Snug going in/out of helmet but not overly tight. Stong frame/arms so don't have to worry about breaking them.

This probalby doesn't help answer op's question; I wear rx eyeglasses under my helmet, so I use my clip on sunglasses over that when needed and it works great for me. I keep the clip on holder in that space between the viffer dash and the windscreen for easy on/off. Only issue I've noticed sometimes is I think the sunglasses are polarized and so is the helmet visor and it makes weird color patterns.

Someone mentioned blue blockers, I actually really liked those for cage driving until I broke mine. I noticed it made it a little bit hard sometimes to tell if traffic lights were green, did you notice that?

Wiley X's are awesome. They are standard issue to the US Military.

I currently use Native Dash XP. I am very happy with them. The "Sport Flex" lenses have some of the best optical clarity I've ever seen. All Native sunglasses are polarized & feature interchangable lenses.

    KC-10 FE out...

I have a $12 pair of ESPN glasses that I pick up from K-mart every time I sit on them or break them in some fashion. They fit in my shoei just fine...

Personally I can't stand wearing glasses of any sort. I only wear them when I have to. I just find them bothersome.

But I am quite photo phobic so sun glasses are sometimes a must. I have tried cheap and expensive, many brands. On the bicycle, the cheap ones work perfect. Find one that wraps around the eyes to keep the gutter gunk out. Like Reggie says, if you sit on them, easy to replace.

But the confines of a helmet I tried to address. I found a pair of Maui Jim's that you can look right at the sun with. It is amazing how comfortable they are on your eyes even on an overcast day. And the frames are stainless steel, almost wire so flex to the point you barely know they are there. Now remember this is coming from someone who does not like to wear glasses so I am very in tune with how they feel. But prepare yourself for the price. You don't want to clean them with the dish rag.
