I managed to find a Wolfman magnetic tank bag. Unfortunately it's probably the last mag tank bag for sale since they decided to abandon manufacturing mag bags. I really like the Wolfman quality and designs. motogearoutlet.com is a great place to buy gear if anyone out there is looking. I'm fortuneate enough to be able to ride down there instead of using their online service. Great people!

Hi K1W1, are you using any other touring storage gear like hard luggae or pack racks?

Yes - I have a Givi E45 on the back as well. I will get a set of Givi side cases too. I'll probably pick these up before the 2008 Top O' The Rockies Rally in Paonia, CO at the end of July.

I bought a Nelson-Rigg large magnetic tank bag. Nonplused. I think it is well made, but gets in my way on mountain roads. It can be expanded to hold a full face helmet. Sits in the closet.

Cortech 12 Litre Magnetic Tank Bag

I have the same Cortech bag as Nungboy but I don't use the strap because I think it might actually create a problem. The magnets hold a full bag firmly in place, but if were to jump off the tank, I wouldn't want it to swing from the end of the strap somewhere it shouldn't go, and take over the steering from me...

This bag also has a map pocket with a clear cover. I stick my Nuvi 250 in there and the touch screen works through the plastic. The Nuvi isn't water resistant or tested for bikes, and there's too much vibration when it's mounted on the windscreen or tank. In the bag, the vibration is dampened out, and the GPS is protected from rain. Of course that's no good if you decide to use the rain cover, which is included.

It's a well-made bag, fits the tank well, and has front and back pockets for easy access to sunglasses etc.

A couple questions for those of you that use really tall tank bags, like the Fieldsheer Eiffel. Can you actually see the instrument cluster over the top of the bag? When the bag is packed - does the added weight high up on the bike noticeably change the center of gravity?

    Tank Bags = Scratches

I have never & will never like tank bags. My Cortech Tail Bag on the other hand is one of the best things I have in my gear collection.

    KC-10 FE out...

    Nelson Rigg.
Has 2 side pockets and is not too big nor too small.
Comes with rain cover and straps to make it a back pack.
Very nice. Will post pics later.

Consider a magnetic tank bag. I have an '05 and use a Nelson-Rigg magnetic bag that works fine. It doesn't mar the paint and is easily removed and replaced to access the gas cap.

    Magnets won't affect credit cards

I pulled this quote from another thread but it is relevant for this thread

Has anyone actually had credit cards go bad from carrying their wallet in a mag tank bag?

Ruined credit cards? Well, no...but a moose once bit my sister. She was carving her initials into it with a Swedish carving knife her Uncle Sven gave to her...(Sorry! Monty Python gibbersih just pours out of me at times...)

This is a semi decent pic of my Fieldsheer. Low profile, magnetic, easy on/off.

The key to scratch resistance is to wipe off the bottom of the bag every time you take it on/off. This keeps the dirt from marring the paint.
