I almost bought a 1999 VFR when they were new but passed and instead bought a Sprint ST. That bike has been gone for a while and I just picked up at nice VFR800 with around 7200 miles on it.

This is the first 5th gen I have ridden and wanted to ask about something. At low RPMs, as soon as I roll on the throttle, it pulls hard but it feels like it is lugging a bit and I feel this "brrrrr" as the RPMs rise. It pulls hard so I don't think it is misfiring or anything but this is strong enough that I can see the mirrors shake and windscreen shake a bit.

It's not a lugging from being in a numerically low gear at low speed (i.e. 5th gear at 20mph or something). It feels different than that.

Any advice for this newbie would be great. Thanks!

This is probably a terrible description but the best I could do.

I'm not sure it's the same, but my '01 has a nice buzz/vibration around 5.5-6k
    rpms. Most noticable in 3,4,5.

When I got my '99 it bogged a bit at low RPM's and did what you're describing. I discovered that a friendly mouse had turned the airbox into it's home. Much more power with an air filter instead of a mouse nest. ;)

Basic maintenaince will probably fix your problem. I'd check the air filter, change the oil, and change the plugs. I know it seems early for plugs, but its worth checking if your mechanically inclined.
