So here's the story - I have always stated that my bike is a 1991 - says so right on the identification plate on the frame "1991 model". AT least that's what I distinctly recall. I guess I simply never questioned that. However - my bike was originally black, and definitely has cartridge forks. So as I've doing some research online looking for original specs, I discovered "1992 VFR750F (RC36) Overview: No major changes except cosmetics. U.S. Honda went to black with purple/silver stripes and silver wheels (actually the black is a really, really dark green with a black flip-flop translucent coat and blue pearl on top of that)." So apparently my bike is indeed a 1992 model. The good news is that the '92s benefited from cartridge forks - but apparently also gained an increase of 4 or 5 ponies. Bonus.
I bought it new back in '92 - I must not have paid too much attention to the invoice from the dealer. Am I missing something here - or am i just an idiot? Feel free to answer that - I've been called worse.
Why the hell would be list "1991 model" on the id placard, when it is clearly a '92? One of those rare, unexpected revelations.
Looks like I have to change my user name to "92yellowveefer".

I'm not sure of the answer to your question (hopefully someone else will chime in to help), but I can say that I implemented a feature on VFRworld that allows you to change your own username. You can find it in My Settings.

What is the VIN? What is the build date on the tag on the frame? Maybe you have one of those bikes that is a very late build of a model year, and actually gets some of the next model years parts. If the VIN says 91, it is a 91 regardless of features. 10th digit is model year, A is 1980, and it goes up by one for every year. 91 would be L, 92 would be M.

    Model years

Keep in mind that manufacturers start making their bikes/cars several months before the year that they are designated.

I had problems with a homeland security Fascist in Texas because I called my BMW Z3 a 97 and he held me on the road between El Paso and Carlsbad, NM for 2 hours because the car id said that it was built in August 1996! The asshole then informed me that I was "free to go".

A 92 model could have actually been made in 91, an 06 in 05.

    Ah Physics!:drum:

My '96 was built in 8/05

Funny thing is my '95 Ford pickup was also built in 8/05
