My '84 700F crapping out ...

    No prying (where stuff could break) needed. Just lube the clamps with sylgide or vaseline (don't laugh) and position as such:

    Then push down on the plenum and rock the boots into place.

    Don't have any slyglide, whatever that is, so I'll try vaseline. Just wouldn't feel right to go buy KY lube for this job either ;^). You did mean lube the boots, not the clamps, right?

    You may have to get the boots hot for that to work... leave them in the sun, ot put them in a pot of boiling water for a few minutes.

    If they are at all like mine (original), they will be very hard, but still durable. Personally, I never got it to work that way. I always have bad luck with the simplest things.
