I am curious RVFR, what prompted this thread? Is there a recent event in particular that got your attention?

I agree with some of the others here that the dissing is normally directed towards the 6th gen at first. Any comments you see going the other way are probably just a rebuttal or defense.

I can think of a couple 5th gen owners who continually poo-poo on the 6th gen, and I'd wager that's usually where it starts. Oooo, yes I went there.

Good questions posed here though not fleshed out enough.

Its a funny thing too some of the answer may just come down to whichever VFR is newest and different cops it from the previous Gens. Back in 2000 my then work collegue bought a brand spanking 5th Gen although he sometimes complained being picked on unnecessarily by some 4th Genners due to its fatter looks and seeming move away from being a "true" Sports bike which seemed strange at the time seeing how the the 5th Gen was lighter more powerfull and turned quicker than the 4th.

I dare say if there was a Internet based VFR Forum when the Gen 3 came out the Gen 1&2 owners would have complained about that also as the Gen 3 was softer and a lot heavier at 216kg than the earlier Gens lithe 203kg.

The Gen 4 was probably seen as a VFR re focus to being a little more sporty again and with NR influences certainly the prettiest so probably the least picked on Gen even if its headlights are pitiful compared to the 5th & 6th Gens.

In the end gotta agree with your surmisal the VFR still great machine even after 20+ years.

I guess that says it all, why are we debating when we should be out riding!

I'm pretty new to the VFR world so I haven't taken part in any of the gen wars, though I have seen a few of the posts that probably lead to what RVFR is talking about.

All I know is that I currently have a 3rd gen cause I wanted a VFR and there was a 3rd gen I could afford. Someday, many years down the road, it just may get replaced by an old 6th gen.

You bring it on yourself, YOU start alot of the flame wars concerning this very subject, at least in the 9 months I've been coming here. Most of the responses you get are deserved, I feel no pity. The 6th Gen Militia was started because of comments made by yourself and a couple others. BTW, you're mom just called and said we need to stop picking on you........

Truth of the matter is mine is better than yours....only because I am the only one who rides mine...a great accessory don't you think!.

Fact is, I have never owned or ridden anything other that my 6th. When I decided to buy a bike I didn't even care if it was a VFR or not. Just about bought a Ninja but the salesman sold me on this one suggesting it would be more dependable in the long run for the type of riding I was going to be doing. And the geometry of the bike felt good. All this said, and the fact I wanted new, I got an 06, can't compare it with anything else with any hint of qualification, but love my bike none the less. Had I decided to buy a number of years ago, it very may well have been a 5th , 4th or earlier and I would likely have the same opinion.

This forum reminds me of me and my brothers when we see each other and have had a couple brewskies. "That is black....No it's white...WTF do you know?

    Hey all you 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th 5th and especially you RVFR, :kiss::peace:

hey guys who yhe f@#k cares about what gen you ride. i have 3 1st gens a
4th and a 5th. i can ride 6th any time i want. there is not that much dif. between 4,5,6 in stock trim. seating position is a little dif. not that much power dif. there all great bikes. all that being said none are half as cool as a VF1000R. monster torque rock solid in the corners best sound of any gen. but heavy as hell. kinda uncomfortable but still my fav.:bootyshake2::bs:

Each has two wheels and a V-4. Everything else is personality.

Can't say I feel one way or another about it, but the 6th gen. seems to take it in the teeth a lot for not being perfect. "Bike" magazine is featuring (on the cover, even) an article comparing a VFR 6G and an '08 GSXR-750, an inapt comparison that concludes with the VFR losing out to the GSXR on power and handling. Ah, well...

 Hmmm, wonder who that can be :bootyshake2:

But seriously I think it's great that anybody rides any bike, as long as there smart about there riding & AGATT.

I'm a little different & like to be proven wrong on any subject, but alas I have owned all the gens as well as a RC45, & still have many, as well as the Sabre 45 & 65, as well as the Magna's 45 & 65's. I know the differances in the weights, power, handling. So when I make my opinion, I make it based on experiance on the roads & track.

When Honda moves to a bigger/better/more modern VFR, I'll buy that one as well (or the new Aprilia V4 ).

I don't dish on the riders, never will (Unless a squid) I just poke fun @ the ones that don't know the history or what they have, & OK some of there opinions, but all in jest my fellow riders .

Oh & the RC30, RC45, & VF1000R are & alway's will be what a true majistic v-4 should be & the newer bikes to try & emulate (Ducati & Aprilia agreed - literly & look what they have now).

Remember if it puts a ear to ear grin on your face when riding (Honda Hawk GT 650 ) it is then the greatest bike in the world & nobody can say different !!!!!!!!!

Now I'm going to my garage & start my gen 2 750 & rev it a few times for foreplay then go jump my wife :ncb:

    Fly low & AGATT & Safe !

No No No you miss understood, you're joking right? I was picking on you and your 6th personally  My Mom just got of the phone with your Mom, so now you're in for it. :vader:

If Not, Your take on what the 6th gen Militia is just what I'm revering too, it's an obvious split in the ranks dividing this place. It's all cool, it is a VFR world, but it is way obvious there's is a strong stand and interest in your version, "ONLY" which could be perceived as thinking you're above the rest. it's comments like what you just said that make it, well interesting. I was here before you, this is my sand box, go play in your own.
Where's a GD hose when ya need one, Damn I like to poke a hot fire..

Like our beloved site states"one world , one bike". I like all of them, I did a tremendous amount of research when I was bike hunting and came to the conclusion that for"ME" a 5th or 6th gen. was the bike I wanted. There were pros and cons to both, came within a few hours of buying a yellow 2000 but then stumbled across a sweet deal on my 03 ($5000.00 with 23,000K, all it needed was rubber). This is THE nicest bike I've ever ridden as far as comfort, functionality and sweeeet looks. I get all kinds of sportbike riders asking about it and when I let em ride it they always say "nice ride". Only people I get :bs: form are the H-D guys and that's just posers with the "tude". I rode a buddies brand new $75,000.00 custom chopper the other day and all I got outta that was sore nads. When I said I wanted to switch back he asked if he could ride the VFR a bit more, betcha I'll have him on one by next spring!!!!
That being said, all of us on the site have a commonality and I see a little flaming as just that some comic relief. We all know that if we ever saw one of us out we'd pull up and shoot the breeze or go grab a burger and a cold one to B.S. awhile . Cheers to EVERYONE on this site!!:ncb:

You guys Crack me up. :bs:
    remember this:
    "Member 5th Gen Brotherhood "
Silver surfer and Norcal boy can correct me if I am wrong but I never have seen them turn anyone down for joining the Vtec battalion. they did not ask which bike I had.

    Am I right ?

I joined because we share a common machine and I didn't realize how many 6th gens were out there.
My first sportbike was an 86 VFR700F2 brand new. rode her up until march of 2006. when repairs were going to keep her out of commission for some time. So, i got a new pearl white 06.

All of these bikes are great. and I will own a yellow 2000 bike in the near future. I love that bike.

I will ride with anyone anytime. I own a bike because I love ridin. don't get to ride as much as I like cause i gotta have a job. I think a lot of pickin on each other is all in good fun. Mello Dude you got my respect. we are all a band of brothers and sisters.

It is only logical that there will be increasing numbers of 6th gens and decreasing numbers of the other generations. you know accidents breakdowns fatal failures. as the broken engine casting forced me to retire my old girl. didn't want to but no real choice. parted her out she's still out there.
    VFR RULZ.

    so grow the freak up
    and get over it
WAH waaa waaa call me a waambuulance LOL`

wait I think I hear mmy mom callin. gotta go for a ride.
