    Hi,
I'm looking to do a long ride and planning on changing my seat. I feel that the stock seat on the VFR is not too comfortable. I had to twist and move around every 10 mins or so while riding. But that's ok for me on local rides, as I like it more sporty than touring. But for the next ride (2 day) I'm planning, it might be too uncomfortable.

If anyone has the Corbin seats for the VFR 800, can you please let me know how comfortable they are compared to the stock seats? I know corbins are supposed to be the best. But I wanted to know how much more comfortable they are than the VFR stock seats, and is it really worth paying $500 for them.

    Thanks

I have a Corbin "gunfigter and lady" and I really like it. Alot of guys here like the Sargent seat but I wanted the capability of a backrest for passengers. The Corbin is a firmer seat than stock. my first impression was "no way this will be comfortable" but it is definitely better than stock. I too was uncomfortable after a short time on the stock seat, I can now ride 1- 1 1/2 hours before I even start thinking of a break. I bought my seat on ebay for around $250. I've also heard alot of horror stories on Corbin turn-around times on orders and lack of customer service but I've not personally experienced that due to buying used. Good luck.

Corbin seats are waaaaay better than stock. I'm hooked on them for a sporty bike. I have had several. The seats I have bought have been either used or I bought it as a dealer item. I have heard that if you have to deal with Corbin that there service is not very good. Then again a member has said that if you can go to Corbin personally, that the result will be excellent. I have a pic in my gallery.

    Good luck,
    MD

tekrider - I had the Corbin "Gunfighter" on my '02 and liked it a lot. Any bike seat is eventually going to be uncomfortable on a long enough ride, but the Corbin was a good seat. Another thing Corbin will do is (within limits) custom tailor your seat for you. A friend of mine actually went to Corbin (Hollister, CA) and they measured his inseam and were able to trim/mold the seat foam so he could reach the ground better. Be sure to check out the Sergeant and Mustang seats as well (IIRC) they were good seats too and many folks liked them as well. If you do end up with the Corbin and it has the perforated leather surface, DON'T us Meguiers "Liquid Gold" leather cleaner/conditioner on the seat...great product but it will leave BRIGHT white residue in the perforations (holes) in the seat that are impossible to get out. Lexal leather conditioner (in the brown bottle) will not dry white. One last note on the Corbin...the rear cowl will still fit with this seat; however, there will be gaps...it won't fit as well as it does to the stock seat.

    Good Luck:wink:

PS - Off Topic - I like your other ride! I have an '08 535i that I'm about to have reflashed with the Dinan s/w to 380hp and 380+ ft lbs....it's pretty pricy at $2K for just the code, but have you had good luck with DINAN products/service?

I like corbin seats. I just bought my first VFR today (05 Red w/ ABS) and it came w/ a corbin seat which I was pretty jazzed about. Af first you'll think "Man, this thing feels like a park bench." and after a little break in (which will either be your butt or the seat, dont know which one) you'll start to feel better on it.

If you have time, get a sheepskin before your ride. I have one from alaskaleather.com and it saved my....:bootyshake2:. I rode from Oklahoma City to Denver on Friday. Through the rockies on Saturday. From Denver to Oklahoma City on Sunday. All on a stock Honda Sabre 1100 seat w/ a sheepskin. Maybe a little gold bond too. It was after that trip that I seriously went to looking at corbin seats.

The sheepskin helps eliminate hotspots that you get from seams, or whatever. It is a lifesaver.

CORBIN SUCKS!!! PM me if you want to hear my horror story. I would NEVER deal with those @ssholes again after spending over $400 on having my seat redone on my White 93 VFR. The seat was fine except for the three or four nickle size spots that they told me to used paint thinner to remove them. Well it removed the spots and also removed the wax type coating that was on the seat. After that they wouldn't return my calls or emails. Since then I've sold the 93 and just picked up an 02 which when it comes time for a new seat I'll be looking elseware or used. Oh yea, and they told me three weeks. It ended up taking 45 days.

I sat on a factory seat when I was looking at my '07 and then sat on the Corbin seat on the one next to it. The corbin feels a lot better. I do have a strange problem with the seat coming unlatched when I am riding down the road. The dealship told me that they did that sometimes.

I only rode on my stock seat for about a week before getting the Corbin. The corbin is MUCH better. I've put 12,000 kms on my bike in 3 months, have had a few 1000 km days and the only thing that gets sore is my knees.

I have the Corbin Gunfighter on my 5th Gen and love it. I was a little concerned at first as it is fairly hard, but after riding a couple of 500 mile days I would never go back. It was by far the best mod I've made to my VFR. I bought mine used, so I can't speak for the customer service.
