does anyone wear the Sliders kevlar lined pants? (demin or khaki or cargo) I really like the look much better than most riding pants but just dont know if they will hold up in a crash? any opinions or suggestions or alternatives would be greatly appreciated

A few members have Icon Anthem pants....with Aramid reinforcements. All I can say, is if the pants you choose have heavier denim, kevlar, or Aramid reinforcement, then they are better than a regular pair of blue jeans. I have Cortech jeans myself....which have knee, hip, and seat reinforcement....they are ok....better than regular jeans....cheesy button though.

i looked the the icon pants and really liked them but my biggest problem is that im 6'7 inches tall and require a 36in inseam (extremely hard to find) and i couldnt find my size in icon but Sliders did have it

The other folks you could check out are Draggin' Jeans for long inseams. Their 'relaxed fit' is cut really strangely - enough rise that you can wear them around your belly button. If you like a more traditional fit, I've heard good things about them.

I've had a couple of pairs of them (and crash tested one), and have to say they're really high quality jeans. The knee armor they offer is some of the best in the business. The only downside is the kevlar acts as an insulating layer, making them pretty toasty in hot weather.

I like the Cortech's better for hot weather, but they longest inseam they offer is a 34", which I can just barely get away with at 6'3".

BTW - you'll probably want to order a bit longer in the inseam than your regular jeans for better coverage and protection on the bike.

Have you checked AlpineStars? They have armored, lined jeans long inseam-but the waist size increases with inseam. Worth a look.

After reading everything I could find I decided on Draggin jeans as well. I just ordered them last night, with knee protection. From what I read Kevlar is better than Aramid and they use the most Kevlar to cover your ass, and complete wrap around the knee and shin area. Some of the others are less expensive but do not seem to offer as much protectionm, but the cost much less.

I have a 10 mile commute to work and these with a Cortech jacket, gloves, and helmet are my work day riding gear (or will be when they get here). I will post a bit more info when I get a few weeks on them. The temp is high 90s at 330 when I roll out so I will let you know how that is.

Now I need a pair of pants for the weekend runs out of town.

I have the Draggin Jeans, very heavy seems like good finish work. Make sure if you do go with Draggin' Jeans you measure the pants you ride in now and pick the closest fit. I wear t-pro knee armor and they are comfortable.
