good to know what it stands for. Next question,I have new Ohlins for the rear on the way and I have to decide what to do with the front. Ohlins sells springs and also a revalving kit. Has anybody tried this set up? Other suggestions ?

I always thought HMAS stood for POS, Race Tech also makes good valves and springs...

"Honda's Mediocre Attempt at Suspension". The more miles I put on the '07, the more the suspension is coming up short. RaceTech and Penske for me, eventually.

I would have to agree with you here -- Honda has always used suspension that is *just* good enough (This is true on quads as well). Oddely enough my 93 VFR actually seems to have better suspension then my 02 - I'm sure this has something to do with the years/miles I have put on my body since I owned the 93 but man you would think Honda would ship these VFR's with something other than pogo-sticks under both ends. Another gripe my 93 had a remote pre-load adjuster something that my 02 is painfully missing. Ok, im going to my happy place now...

Here's another option that other owners have been happy with.

You will love the Ohlins and smart to balance out the front end.

For the front I went to a local Suspension Tech and very happy with the results.

After talking with me about my riding style and areas I ride, He saved me some $$ by not over building with pricey valving and went with a new stiffer spring 1.kg and 10w oil.
    My rider weight is ~180lbs

yup...I've had my Ohlin's on for a year now and I've definitely decided I need front springs. I'll probably go with Sonic because A) they're cheaper and B) they have 1.10 rate which would be the better choice for two up riding with my big butt on the bike.

Be careful to keep that Ohlin's clean...especially the main shaft and seal area. Clean it with WD-40 fairly religiously if you can. I am literally mailing mine to North Carolina tomorrow to be looked at (hopefully under the 5yr warranty)as my seal leaked a good amount of fluid last week. It failed after a 200 mile solo ride(<10k miles total on the shock) but there were some big ass potholes I couldn't avoid(it's Michigan, 3rd worst roads in the country). Can't decide if it failed a long time ago due to overloading when two up, or if the road salt got to it this winter... I'm thinking road salt as it's already sprung for 350lbs...

I read somewhere on this forum some Viffer guy swapped out their telescopic forks for a inverted RC51 forks using CBR954 front brakes. It might be a worthwhile upgrade if you can find one.
