Tourmaster Caliber Pants

I picked these up to match my Tourmaster Transition jacket. Out the door price was $125. NJ does not charge sales tax on clothing & it doesn't matter what kind.

Pros:
Seems somewhat heavy duty. They look like they can take a beating
3/4 leg waterproof zippers
Reflective stripes
good armor & well placed
removeable liner
built in belt

Cons:
Just like my raingear & jacket, Tourmaster needs to work on their sizing. I bought XL just to have extra room. I got extra room everywhere except the waist.
Not just a Tourmaster problem but waterproof zippers are a freaking pain

Other than the sizing, I don't have any real complaint & they get 8 out of 10.

Now that I have these pants, my motorcycle apparrel collection is complete with the exception of a summer full gauntlet leather glove.

Wife got me the same pants about 2 weeks before Christmas as an early present. I agree with KC's comments. I got one size bigger in the waist as I wear them over jeans commuting to work. I got the XXL long and really like the extra length, I wear a 36" inseam and the length is perfect. These pants are PLENTY warm. I wore them to take the bike in for the harness recall. It was 19F when I left the house and my legs were fine even w/o the liner. They feel pretty sturdy and the armor seems to stay in the right spots. Only thing I would downgrade them on is their breath-ability. But I guess thats the price you pay for being water proof. Over all good pants, 8 out 10.

I bought these and they are hot.
Just walking around the house with the liner and I was starting to sweat.
off liner, they felt better but still hot.
Like others have said, these are good if temp is 70 or less.
Not for summer riding.

They fit tight on the waist.
Lots of padding.

I ordered the mesh pants to compare them and see which ones to return...
or keep both. :biggrin:

 

Yep, I took the liner out of mine & rode with them in the 35f range. I was not cold. Now that I think of it, I don't use the liner in most of my stuff.

I wore my set from without the liner but had underwear, thermals, wranglers then the Caliber pants. It was a little cold on the coast when I left. I made it to the desert and still very comfortable and wasn't overheating in them. Went from the 60's to the mid 80's. I would like to try the alter ego though.

 

Has anyone used them in temps above 80?
without liner of course.
were they too hot or hot but tolerable?

I wear and am pretty happy with Joe Ballistic 5.0 pants which are fine as an overpant and great for cold to cool weather but I need something that doesn't look too geeky for the summer.

I've been looking at the various jean-types but I really wanted to get a pair that have aromour at the knees and hips and a kevlar threading to make sure they don't disintegrate when they slide.

Can't seem to find that combination anywhere.

I kept the Caliber pants.
Better made, lots of protection, flex, nice fit, adjustable knee pads and waist.
Hot! I rode with them in near 80s and they were getting hot.

The mesh pants were ok but I just did not like them.
Not as much protection and too much mesh for my taste.

 

I have never seen a pair of "jeans" with real armour in them. The closest is the Cortech DSX & I'm really not to happy with them. Infact, I don't wear them except for MSF classes. I wear my Icon TiMax pants for street riding in hot weather. It was 101f in NJ today & I wasn't uncomfortable. I was definitely hot but I could deal with it.

Does anyone have a recommendation for armored mesh pants for hotter temps? (do they exist?)
