Well, thanks to the members of the VFR world, my 1984 Honda Interceptor 500 lives and breaths healthy.

Just a few questions before I start perfecting her appearance.

    1. Are the carbs suppose to click twice in their manifold boots?
    2. Can I use normal anti-freeze for cars in my VF?? Of course mixed properly!!

I put some Honda-freeze in but I ran out, and she just opened up yesterday, requiring more than what I had on hand.

I appreciate the help and thanks again to everyone for the help.

Who knew that I could set 4 cams on a Interceptor:unsure:

    1. What do you mean by "click" twice in the carb boots?
    2. Use "silicate-free" and you should be fine. I use the cheapest silicate free green stuff I can find.

If you look inside the manifold boot, you'll see 2 groves, and what I'm not sure of if the carb is suppose to go past the first grove/lip or the second lip.

I was trying to think of the name or substance that Honda said to stay away from.
Thanks for the help on that. I have a lot of the Prestone Orange Anti-freeze that I use on my cars and I wasn't sure.

Like was stated, non-silicate antifreeze. Try some "Engine Ice" from your local bike shop.....good stuff!

Not sure if the Honda AF is the OAT/dexcool type stuff. I hope not anyway. That prestone orange might be a 'dexclone' and if so I wouldn't be mixing it with some other type of antifreeze.

Well, since I'm already running Honda-freeze, I might as well top it off with that.

    Man, $5 bucks a quart ain't cheap.

Thanks for the help on that, now getting back to the carb issue.

Later on, I'll post a few pictures of how my carbs are situated.
I think their suppose to be farther, but they won't go.

I'm putting my whole body into it, and they won't budge any farther.

hehe yes any local dealer price is typically at least list price sometimes higher. I had that happen with Subaru, they told me the antifreeze was like $5 I thought great! Then they said well that's per quart but we only sell it by gallon. I was going to look for a msds for honda coolant to see what chemistry it is (hopefully it doesn't say 'properietary ingredients' or something).

But you gotta love Honda! Suzuki tried to make a V4 with there Maurader, but that didn't fly...and then they created the V-max that was an ultimate winner.

    V-Max...MMMMMM:treehugger:

Anyways, looking at my shop manual pictures, it looks like the carbs are all the way in, but the picture that masonv45 posted, makes me think that mine aren't all the way in...

Posting pictures as soon as I can get my 4 AA's charged.

She seems to run just fine, but it makes me think if she could runner better with the carbs all the way in....:frown:

    Thanks again for the help
