    Hi all,

Just wanted to post a quick "hello" from Seattle. Well, Renton, really.
As of about two weeks ago, I'm the proud owner of a 2002 Red VFR with 8500 miles on the clock.

I'd previously owned a 2006 BMW K1200S, but decided to trade. Why? Mainly so I could own 2 bikes and have some choice when I decide to head out. I spend most of my time commuting, so I end up averaging 12k/yr, but also try to do the odd 400 to 500 mile day and longer weekend trips.

I've currently got plans to do a 4 day trip to the Hells Canyon area in a little over a week, and then also do Sportbike NW later this summer. I'll hopefully be able to squeeze other day rides in as well.

The Hells Canyon trip won't be on the VFR, it'll be on the other bike I got in the same deal: a 1998 R1100GS. Very different from the VFR and the K, but that was the point...and hey, they're both Red.

I'm currently planning on putting a SW-Motech rack and my Givi 46L top case on the bike, but am still trying to decide what to do about the saddle bags.

    Patrick

Cool, I live in Olympia. There are quite a few VFR riders in the Puget Sound area and you will see alot of them on here from time to time. You can also find lots of rides (and riders) on www.pnwriders.com

Thanks for the link! I'll definitely check it out.
I'll keep an eye out for rides and gatherings.

I will be going to SBNW this year again, so will definitely be down in that part of the world. I do love riding in NE Oregon. Some friends and I did a 4 day ride there last year around John Day, Hells Canyon, Madras and I thought the roads were awesome. There was hardly any traffic, beautiful weather, and it seemed like they'd just put new tarmac down on every road we chose. It was also a lot twistier than I expected. Didn't really know what to expect. I thought it'd be more like Eastern WA, but wasn't at all. Very nice weekend, that.

    That looks awesome.
We did about half that route, went north through Madras instead of south.

Have a look at these two to get an idea:

I'm always too busy having fun to stop very often, so I never end up with very many pictures after a full day of riding.
