For a short trip (no more than 200 miles, back home the same day),
what do you carry with you?

    Last time, I had...
    - sunglasses
    - hat
    - MF towel for cleaning visor
    - small water bottle

    how about the rest?

nothing more than a cell phone or a small tank bag with a cell phone and some small extras. It would have to be a multi tank trip to carry more.

I use my backpack mostly, and I have a firstaid/cpr kit, microfiber cloth, spray cleaner (well, in my pocket, with small rag), bungee cords, extra cabling and lock (for extra helmets, jacket) hat, some toiletries, MP3 player, camera, phone charger, , extra glasses (sunglasses) vitamins, earplugs, neckwarmer, garbage bags, map, small bike half-cover (UV), etc...

See, this bag goes to work and to the gf's, so I am always using stuff in it.

I ride with a buddy that packs his XD45 when he rides. I always thought that it was a little unnecessary but am now seeing that it is not so uncommon. So I have to ask the question... why pack when you are out for a ride? One thing that I've learned is don't car jack (bike jack?) viffer owners!!

Somebody's buddy had issues. I can't think of a reason to carry a firearm while riding. But then, I'm a peaceful guy.

Ok, I'm kinda old for a sport bike guy (if a VFR is considered a sport bike) so I understand the hard liquor, but the handguns... what are you guys so afraid of??

I carry too ;) though not ALL the time.

    So for most rides:
a few assorted tools (that dont come with the factory tool kit)
    MF towels
    disc lock
    change $$
    zipp ties
    assorted electrical connectors/tape
    map
and whatever I'm drinking that day.

    Sometimes packable rain gear
