In this photo, the man with the beard made the racer in the '70's from a stock GT750. The young man currently owns the bike.

500cc, two-stroke racer. It was very loud and very free-flowing exhaust. Note the tailpipe smoke.

I took just one photo of the Ala Verda (green) Norton. I believe it was a prototype for yet a new hoped-for Norton company. The idea didn't pan out a few years ago because of a lack of money. The man who owns the bike and rights to the Norton name was soliciting investors.

    Here's a link I found to

The show was absolutely amazing. Unlike auto shows, you could walk right up to the vehicle. There was no rope fence to keep people out. In order to compete, the bikes must run (in fact the owners ride to the podium to collect their trophies). So as you walked around, motorcycle engines would erupt in a cloud smoke accompanied by the sound of internal combustion.

Since owners needed to be present when the bike is judged, you are easily within earshot of conversations (such as magazine reporters) and can chime in with your own questions.

I did not go to the event the first two years. But, now I'm hooked!

Alas, no VFRs. Competition categories went up to 1977. Will have to wait five more years for an '82 VFR.
