Is there a way to adjust the steering tension on a 4th gen? Seems like it is way to easy to turn, like it should have some tension to it? Might be normal but this is my first bike and I would not know. Any insight?

mine seems to probably be the same way. i dont think there is much you can do other than maybe install a steering stabilizer. if the steering head bearings are worn you will have up and down movment if you check it on the centerstand with the front wheel off the ground. if they are worn i have heard there are tapered roller bearings you can install to replace the original ball bearing style. you could also check the torque on the nut. i think it takes a special socket. dont overtighten it however it could cause premature wear and maybe cause some binding .

I think I found out why steering was a little too easy. I just bought new tires and why I did not think of checking before I dont know. But I checked the tire pressure and it was at 53psi instead of the 36psi. Once I brought the tire pressure down to normal it was a bit more stable. My bad on tire pressure. :frusty: Lesson learned.

Yikes 53 is a little high! Tire pressure can make a big difference in the handling and feel of the bike. If you feel like messing with it try adding and removing a couple of lbs at a time. Bear in mind that it will read higher after you've been riding though. The factory recommendation is for cold tires.

    Thanks RBucket,

I am going to play with it a little and adjust it and see what feels comfy.
