I was checking some things on the bike and I decided to take the tank off to get to the Air Filter/carbs.

After removing the two bolts and lifted and some lines attached from the Petcock that prevented the removal.

What is the best/proper way to reove the tank?

Should I drain it first? Do I unclip the lines and flip the tank upside down?

    Any tips or how to's?

    thanks.

i wouldnt drain the tank unless u feel its necessary. the lines on the bottom are the fuel line, and 2 vaccuum lines. i dont remember what the vaccuum lines do, but if i remember right it doesnt matter which way the lines get hooked back up. if it doesnt run when u hook it back up go vise versa on the vaccuum lines

a couple tips: if you take the tank off to get to the air box, PUT THE TANK ON THE GROUND!! they dont sit on the frame under the seat very well. And dont forget to turn the gas off.

    Thanks.

So just lift the tank and disconnect the lines then.

yes sir had mine off 10 or 15 time right after i got it. whats under there your looking for?
if your digging into the carbs i would not reccommend that it will cost you more in the long run. i found that out the hard way, these carbs are very delicate.

all you can see from the top of the carbs like that is the float for air control. you wont see if the jets are varnished. dont take off the aluminum cover under the black plastic air box it will mess with the carbs, i made that mistake too.
