Well folks, I got friggin wet during the commute home today.

I have a Joe Rocket Meteor Jacket and Joe Rocket Alter Ego pants I wore though the winter here and stayed dry for the most part. But after a whole winter of freeway driving it was time to wash. Hand washed according to instructions, treated with Tanya heavy duty spray on stuff, two coats but to no avail. I doubt that it stopped anything the fabric itself would have stopped.

Anyone out there tried a product that worked really good? I don't mind spending the money for it. How about you American Military folk? You guys use anything on your gear that is really good?

I hate the thought of going back to wearing rain gear on a regular basis again. It is so bulky and, I think, it makes my ass look big.

Randy, maybe go into a place like MEC or Coast Mountain Sports and see what the mountain climbers use on there gear. I know they have a good selection. A while back I used to use stuff called Tectron. It worked great and was the same stuff that North Face used from the factory. Give Joe R a call and see what they initially used, it's probably around somewhere.

yodasmile I usually use a spray protectant for boots. Pretty good stuff. Spray some of that on ur boots and ruck sack and good to hit the field.

I too have used the waterproofing spray for shoes on my things. I did notice that they are better than most of those other water proofing sprays out there. I even use them on my camping tents. It has to be the ones sold in the shoe stores or shoe departments for it to be the good ones. Then put a really heavy coating on the items you spray and you may want to leave them outside or in a garage to dry because the fumes are very unpleasant for the first few days. You will want to get at least 2 cans for what you want to do. Hope this helps you. It works great for me.
