    Hi there!

I'm a fairly new rider, started with a 1986 Rebel 450 (knowing I'd want a bigger bike at some point). I've been lurking about here for a few weeks and learned a lot from reading some of the other threads.

Anyway, for my new ride, I had been trying to decide between a VFR800 and the CB900, but long story short, I bought my 2007 VFR800 on Saturday!

I'll bet others here can relate to this: I was a bit nervous when it came time to take her home. I'd ridden a Ninja 650R a couple of weeks ago (testing the riding position more than anything since I've been riding a small cruiser), and I was very comfortable with it. So I kept telling myself, "I did great riding that Ninja 650R, the VFR isn't THAT much bigger, it can't be THAT much different, people say these bikes are very user friendly, I'll do just fine." Fortunately I was able to ride my new friend in a huge parking lot for a few minutes so I could practice the great stuff I'd learned in the BRC course before bravely heading off into traffic to go home.

I learned a couple of things in those few minutes of practice:
    * OK, so there are some notable differences between the Ninja and the VFR . . .
    * WOW! What a great bike!!
    * No problem going up to Payson with this baby!

Anyway, I'm happy to be a part of this very cool community.

Welcome, Becca. The first ride is a bit nerve wracking, but it sounds like you have had a great start.

Welcome Becca, you did good by testing it out in the parking lot. You will love this bike, you also have to respect it to just like any other bike. You will have many of good times on that bike! I'm guessing that your one the fellow female riders judging by your pic and your user name. Thats great to see another girl join the club. I like the look of your bike and your gear! Nice touch. There are other girls around here to, they just are a bit out numbered here with all us guys so don't let us scare you away!

Welcome aboard, Becca. Nice bike. I am a former Mesanite, used to live at Southern and Alma School across from the mall. Went to MCC. Traffic is crazy, ride like everyone is trying to kill you. Keep your head on a swivle. You'll do fine.

Yes, I am guessing the pink on my gear kinda gives me away:smile:

I should probably add a caption for my picture that explains why my face shield is open; it was 102 degrees as I getting acquainted with my new bike!

I have really enjoyed reading and learning from what other members have said and I look forward to spending as much time as I can here. Right now I am researching luggage options . . .

    Thanks for the welcomes!

Great looking bike, love the color (especially since it looks just like mine!). I promise you're going to love it.

I have a friend in Phoenix that rides constantly and I know she has friends in Payson she goes to see quite frequently. Give her a shout sometime, her web site is at Seize The Journey!

    . . . and I'm a former Californian, I grew up in Orange County.

At my BRC course, the first thing the instructor did was stand up in front of the class and announce, "The most important thing you need to know is that everyone out there wants to kill you." Strong message but it really drives the point home.

Traffic is kinda crazy here which is the only reason I wasn't on a bike years ago. But I have wanted to ride for so long I finally reached a point where I HAD to do it (and I'm so glad I did!)

It's a little scary to think of the people who are freaking out about gas prices, rushing out to buy motorcycles or scooters who have never ridden before and are only doing so now to save money on gas . . .

I know the feeling Becca, I felt the same way when I got mine. Maybe I'll see you on 87 someday headed up there. If I do, I'll buy you something to drink at the Buffalo.

I was looking too and depending on how much you want to spend, you can get some good luggage rather cheaply or you can spend a pretty penny. I for one have found what I think is the best looking hard bags around, Corbin's Beetle Bags. I was against getting hard luggage for my bike but after seeing those on a guys bike up in Sedona, I was sold. Check them out. Welcome to the madness and congrats on the new purchase. We are doing a photo contest on another thread, you should join in. Someone posts up a challenge (your bike with something/someone/someplace). The challenge goes for 3 days and if nobody gets it, then they post up another. Whoever wins the challenge gets to choose the next challenge. We have alot of fun doing it. Hope to see you there.
