inline 4 engines tend to vibrate than the good ol' V45 engine, definately smoother, and also for what I remember the gear ration on CBR is made for quick shifting up and down the gears, where the VFR is more of a higher gear ratio and therefore makes it smoother ride. I dont think the CBR is a good bike for long rides because of comfort and the high RPM you'll be getting on the highway.

Bought the VFR because when i sat on it i liked it better. It is simply more comfortable. both bikes will attack the twisties and the diffrence in performance would mostly be track related.
Find the vfr to be a much more real world bike.
Great for going to work, around down.
Great at twisties and will put many sport bikes to shame.
Great for traveling across the country. cheepest and best vacation ever.

I looked at the 06 Blue and yellow CBR1000RR when I was lookin to replace my 86 VFR700F2. I asked my buddy if I could sit on his 05 cbr and that was the clincher after I unfolded my big ass self from being on that steed. I decided to stick with what I Knew. About a month ago my Buddy stopped at a watering hole and drank so much water he could not drive his bike home. He called me and asked if i would come and bring it home for him and I did it for my friend. After a two mile ride on that thing I was grinning about my correct choice two years earlier. I am 51 yrs old and if that was my bike I wouldn't be riding. It was wicked quick but it was wicked uncomfortable. no way could I do 60 miles on it much less the normal 200 miles I do every time I fire up the VFR.
I love to watch em and they do go fast, very fast. They do it quickly. If I was 30 yrs younger I would have one as a second bike.

One thing I would like to know is if anyone has noticed a difference in the quality of parts on the VFR compared to the CBR - ie. the brakes, suspension, etc. For one, I noticed that there's a lot more detail in the VFR's wheels. Plus, we get ABS - I think we're getting more for our money!

Don't forget that if CBR speed is what you're lookiing for you can get DAMN close with some minor tweaking on a VFR. Plus you get to keep all of those great Viffer benefits!!

Honda puts a great deal of engineering / Money into the VFR. They make less profit on the VFR as well. They churn out the RRs they don't cost as much to produce and make more $$$ per sale. So Yeah, you are getting more for your money.

CBRs are by far more commercialized than the VFR. You can find a CBR for sale just about anywhere, but the VFRs are far in between.
Comfort is a big plus for me, the CBRs are great for around town but you're butt will let you know when is time to take a little walk.

No, I would not buy a CBR over a VFR. I have both and if I could only have one I would keep the VFR. Much better all-around bike, the VFR, but the CBR has a charm all its own and with some of the best twisties in the state four minutes from my front door, it is nice to have the option.
