Hi everyone. I need some help, i'm new to bikes and have just bought a 1991 vfr 400. It was running fine when i brought it home on a trailer but it was raining. I started it up and it was fine. I later tried to start it and it didn't want to start then it sounded as if it was missing. The rear lights were flickering. It then died and when I turned the ignition off and back on there were no ignition lights. Ihave checked the battery and it is full charged. Any ideas, i'm a newbie and stuck!!

How old is the battery and what is the amp rating? Is all the connectors for your r/r tight and look careful if all the wires coming from r/r are not bare and exposed to each other or the frame.

Without alot more info. buy a service manual and use the troubleshooting sections and this forum.

    Gd luck.

forgot the easy one. Check your main fuse and see if its blown but before you replace it you have to locate the short that caused the fuse to go in the first place.

aha! the old corroded frame earth rears it's ugly head again. Follow the earth lead from the battery to the frame undo the bolt clean off corrosion and retighten bolt smear with vaseline and all should be well
