    Hello,

I've just purchased my first VFR, I'm a cruiser convert (Honda Shadow & Sabre). It's a yellow 2000 VFR 800 with 5900 miles.

Can anyone please recommend some soft saddle bags that won't burn up and are easy to take on and off?

Also, I'd consider some Yellow Corbins if there any more used ones floating around.

    Thanks!

    Jason

    Hi Jason,
Well I'm not a fan of soft saddle bags. For me they are a major PIA. I highly recommend the Ventura pack system. Hands down the best traveling soft luggage system out there.

I'm happy with the RKA's, I have had then since 2000 and they still look crisp and good. THe internal supports that hoild the shape when empty make a bit of trouble when loading "incidentals" however.

Not fast to "dof and don" for there are two straps to the passenger foot peg brackets, and the tie strap across the rear light/ plate. But the over the seat attatchments are done by press snap, and are no hassle. My usual passenger (wife 101) never complains about sitting on the cross straps.
And the co- ordinated red panel compliments the bike well.

    Sorry, no pics ;-(

I like the Cortech saddle bags, and they seem to take the exhaust heat OK. I eventually did make a "shade-tree" rack for them to keep them away from the mufflers, and put some U-bolts in the rear fender for mounting points. That reminds me, I was going to post photos...

    Rangerscoot,

Looks like you have the sergant seat as well. Do you have the quick swap bolts to change out the cowl and the seat?

I was wondering if you can keep the back handles on while you have the cowl storage compartment set up?

I've been using a set of RKAs for about ten years, and I bought them used. High quality gear and good people to deal with.

    Edited to add:

I also have a Ventura rack (sport rack) which I use when on extended trips/camping, and secure a large Motofizz (Riderwearhouse) seatbag to it.

i would strongly recommend hard bags if you can afford them. They are sooo much nicer to deal with than soft bags.

Thanks for all the quick replies... I think I'm going to try Cortec for a start and a tail bag. I rode to work today and Had my laptop in a knap sack. It's 17 inches wide so I definately need a good tail bag or some such device :)
