Do you wear glasses/eye protection when you ride?

I have to wear corrective glasses, I can't stand for contact lenses or anything else to touch my eye. I'm so used to wearing glasses after all these years if I got laser surgery I'd probably still wear glasses as an affectation. Part of that is the simple fact that I would be one eyed now if not for them; I was disassembling a 1911 slide once and the firing pin got away and WHAM dead center of my glasses. It would have impaled my eye had I not been wearing them. I'm far too lazy to wear safety glasses solely for the sake of protection, so not being able to see for crap without them is the motivator that saved my eye.

I'm with you, would feel naked without glasses now and they have protected me from taking an eye out on more than one occasion.

Protecting your eyesight should be important to anyone doing anything. Would you run a chainsaw in your backyard without eye protection? Even HD douchetards that don't wear helmets wear shades.

I too have had the live bug under a faceshield thing happen so I try to keep it down at all times.

I wear sunglasses under my helmet 95% I ride. Currently, I use Native Dash XP.

I keep a pack of Windex wipes under my seat year round. There are a part of my riding arsenal that is so useful that I couldn't imagine not using them.

    KC-10 FE out...

I've found that the Honda Spray Cleaner and polish works wonders on the front portion of face shields.

For the record though, the anti-fog coatings are only applied to the inside of the face shield (at least on my HJC), you can clean the outside with whatever you want and it doesn't matter.

Prescription glasses for me. I don't ride with my shield open though except for a small crack at the bottom.

Glad to know I'm not the only one anal about a clean shield. Bugs on mine drive me nuts and I also tend to clean it every time I stop.

The optometrist says that with out the glasses he prescribes I can't see distance well enough to drive safely (personally I think he's just trying to sell me something...LOL!)
Seriously, small Ti framed 'scrips here inside my AGV. Can't ride without them. Shield down at all times, Florida is the land of the flying insect!

I wear prescription glasses. So it makes the ride so much nicer when you can actually see what is going by. I too, carry a small spray bottle of glass cleaner in my tank bag, which I never leave home without. Louisiana is full of bugs. Our mosquitoes are required to register with the FAA. Clean shield is nice and it's safer. I ride with visor open to first click for air, only open fully at long lights when it is hot.

I usually wear sunglasses on really bright, sunny days. I have a Scorpion helmet and they make a transitional shield, like some prescription glasses have. I have thought about getting one of those, but they are about $80 I think. I sometimes forget to take my sunglasses off before I put my helmet on, lol, but other than that, aslong as the glasses are comfortable with the helmet off, I usually don't have much issue with them with it on, though sometimes they don't qhuite sit on my nose. lol

I use the Rainex on the outside to assist in the rain beading away while commuting on the highway. So no longer use windex on the outside. As far as anti fog stuff on the inside, I have not found anything that works sufficiently in the type of rain we get on the wet coast of BC. Only thing that remotely works, actually works fairly well, is to smear dish washing liquid on the inside of the shield. You end up with the appearance of a bit of a dirty shield but I quickly learned to get used to this. Far better than the fog. Soap has to be re-applied once a week or so or if the inside gets wet.

I just purchase a set of Maui Jim's for $235. I have had them before to wear at work when outside cause I am quite light sensitive. ( the only place I am sensitive some say). First pair were stolen so after several years bought a new pair. They are so comfortable on the eyes, even on an overcast day. The new ones have stainless steel frames and are about the lightest things I have put on my face. Very flexible frames. Been away on vacation and can't wait to try them under the helmet.

But I still would prefer not to wear anything, glasses that is

<----------- HAS NOT had the live bee in face shield ...yet, i suppose from how it seems so common evidently.

I wish i didnt read this thread. I live in Tucson AZ and its HOT if you ride around with the visor down during the day but Damn...a freakin bee stuck in your helmet sounds like hell!

I wear shades if my visor is up. Dont know how much more I'll be doing that though, never thought about the bee thing..and we sure have them here too.
