Does anyone else have any vibration when the vtec kicks in?
I just bought an 07, with only 1000 miles on it. I get buzz through the seat when the vtec kicks in, and then as getting higher in rpm, seems to settle down.
No vibration at all in 2 valve mode.
I would like input whether this is normal or not, while still under warranty.
    Thanks all!

My 04 is smooth from idle to redline. No buzz that I've noticed. Bike has 33,000 miles.

When I have my 2007 VTEC engaged, I can't feel anything through the seat at all because my body is stretched out above the bike...only my hands touch the bike. Well, not really...
Seriously, I do not notice any increase in vibration. It is a very smooth machine at all RPM's. Maybe something loose somewhere? Have it checked out....ride another for comparison

I have the same vibration when the vtec kicks. I have never ridden a motorcycle that doesn't vibrate some in the upper revs.

More info/perspective: As always, one man's smoothness is another man's vibration. There are a number of noticeable things when VTEC kicks in, especially at a brisk acceleration. The additional sound from the air box is (IMHO) what most people "sense." There is some exhaust noise and additional vibration but to me it is subtle and is punctuated by rapid shifting and much grinning. Superceptor02 has a point, almost all MCs have some vibration somewheer in their range...most have a substantial vibe at some point. My 2006 Kawasaki Z750S had a well-documented vibe at the 6000-8000 range...smooth under and over that but bad in that range. The seat, the pegs, the bars...whoa...it was distracting. Kind of a drag! The VFR is so smooth through the entire range, at least relatively speaking. Yours may well have something not quite right. Unless you can ride 4 or 5 other 07's and be sure about your comparison, take it in and have it checked out is my advice. Otherwise you, (and we) are only guessing. I know our bikes are made of metal but they feel like teflon and velvet. Your's should too...but, what are you used to? If you only drive Camrys, Accords, and Mercedes cars, the bike may have "vibration" but I think the VFR...for a motorcycle...is smooth as glass.

Nungboy makes great points about the subjectiveness of this. For me, when I wasn't used to the Vtec deal, I thought the whole bike was going to fly apart from the harsh noise and vibration. It's eased as I've racked up more miles and I've also gotten used to it.

If I were you, assuming you're still under warranty, I'd have it checked out just to be sure.

    All good information
I guess what I was comparing to was that I had a 2000 vfr, and it was super smooth throughout without vtec. Not complaining, but just trying to see if normal. I went from th 00 vfr to a ST1300, and decided I liked the vfr better, so had to switch back. It's all good.

That ST 1300 is so much larger. I think it would be perfect if one toured all the time but otherwise, the VFR is so much more fun and easy to manuever. How cool to have compared them all...my neighbor has an ST 1300 but I haven't riden it yet...just sat on it. (He has a RUNE too but I don't think I'll get to ride THAT!!)

I have the same bike, 2007 and I do not feel any additional vibration thats significant-considering the increase in power. If it has not been in for the 600 mile service you can mention that then because they are supposed to check torques on engine bolts etc. in addition to the oil change.

I have an '07 and have to say that there is nothing that presents itself as being excessive. I've never noticed anything that got my attention. Often, I will engage the VTEC and "lug" it by keeping the RPM constant with it still engaged and I would say that everything feels butter smooth.

I think the problem is that the VFR is so freakin smooth that when your in VTEC it seems harsh... The vibrations are so well isolated that anything that comes through seems kinda weird. I noticed in the last little while that while riding below VTEC I can feel vibration if I force my feet into the sides of the rear sets. While on the pegs normally, I feel nothing.

    Dude,
I have the same amount of miles on my bike. Initially, I did experience some vibes at my foot pegs just before the transition point however after the next oil change & servicing, it disappeared. Otherwise, the VTEC transition is smooth. You should not feel any sudden spike in power or vibes aside from your pipes turning into a screaming banshee...

Check chain tension, it may be loose. If not, I'd take to the dealer to get it looked at.

I put my heli bars on Friday. I took it for a spin with out the bar ends in talk about vibration. What a difference the bike rides so smooth after I put them back in.

I have about 500 miles on my 07 and have also noticed some vibration in the seat/handle bars when V-TEC is kicked in. I dont consider it to be excessive. I was told by the stealership that when they do the 600 mile service they will check/adjust the fuel injection to make sure each cylinder is in sink with each other. If you have not done this yet, this might be what is causing the vibration during V-TEC. I will mention it to the stealership when I have the service done and report back afterwards.
