I have looked so places for correct information on how to install frame sliders for the 06 vfr800. Everything seems to point to the aftermarket antifreeze tank. I took off both side cowlings yesterday to look around for a good bolt on location for the 10mm bolts. There is a good bolt location right behind the antifreeze tank.

What I don't understand is why you would want to drill through something that is under pressure. It seems to me that you would be just asking for trouble.

After a close examination of the antifreeze tank cap, it appears to be just made out of rubber. So does that mean the fluid is not under pressure - unlike in the car, where you should "never open when hot?"

How many of you have done this / purchased the modified tank and does the frame slider extend out enough to actually protect the lower side cowling?

    Thanks for your input.

If you are worried about the coolent bottle then order R & G sliders, they come with a modified bottle.

I installed Radar's sliders (he's a VFRDiscussion member) on my '98 VFR, and modified the bottle myself (very easy to do). It is not pressurized. These sliders are the best; they sit in just the right spot to do a good job of protecting the fairings. I understand that he's not making any more slider kits this summer, but may start again when the weather gets too awful to ride safely. May be worth waiting.

It's the over flow bottle. There is little to no pressure in there. As others said, just get the R&G kit with the bottle and bolt it in. Then you don't need to worry about it. The only deterant would be the $220 price tag for the kit. I think that's the one I'm going to go with, but have better ways to spend $220 right now.

As for pressure, the system is pressurized but not the bottle, so the warning would be on radiator cap. I've not looked at mine to see a radiator cap but the setup is basically the same, on my VF500 and my VF1000R the warning is on the cap. Same way the cars used to be. As for sliders I'll look at those posted, I looked into the Oggy Knobs and they look good but they are 500 bucks! So $220 doesn't sound so bad.
