Based off of everything that I am researching the US / Canada price gap is closing... I'm pretty sure that's not a good thing.

Yep, I paid that last Friday to fill up the truck, glad I only use one tank a month.

Grinder, you're obviously right about buying vs. invading, I don't know that we've gotten any oil out of this latest effort and that was the point of the whole thing wasn't it??? Canada is still our number one supplier of oil.

And $12-15/gallon gas not possible? This is a global situation, even if the US cuts back because it's simply gotten too expensive, India/China is going to replace that demand almost immediately. Pickens mentions in the interview, global production now is 85M barrels, demand is 87M. The US uses over 20M barrels/day, a quarter of all production. I think if we want it, we're going to have to pay for it.

DOES anyone remember that oil was $20/barrel when Geo motherfu**in' Bush took office???

Think his mismanagement and blatantly inept foreign policy had anything to do with present price??????

Here in Northern Philippines, its P53.90/liter ($1.34 at an est. of P40.00/$) and its going up @ P1.00 per week. since i can't do anything about the increasing price for premium gas. I drilled the 4 nidle sit bowl of my 1st gen just to reduce its consumption and it works, the millage is extended to about 25 km per full tank or an average of 2 liters saving per full tank.

For the first time ever today I put $20 worth of fuel in my VFR--and that's 87 octane! I never thought I would spend $20 on a tank of fuel for a motorcycle.

I dont think buying gas is a investment at all however i would much rather spend my money in a investment and not on gas, and i have seven kids, i have a EV1 but all of us cant fit in at the same time, and i dont think another war is the answer ether but there is things we can do together and not setting on our ass

Well, I saw it coming & new it would even be higher this Summer.

I had bought some fuel storage tanks from a out of business Co a while back that held 250 gallons each tank (there on wheels) so about 7 months ago I filled all 7 of them up with super & had added fuel stabilizer.

Now with the hand pump, I just use that for now & I just hope it comes down a little in the Fall to replenish the supply back up.

Funny thing is my new job is only 1.2 miles away & I just walk or ride a bike now to there & back

    Spoke too soon.....

Malaysia has just imposed a ban on foreign vehicles (ie. Singapore & Thailand) from pumping gas within 30 miles of the border. Drastic measures by the government to channel the high petrol subsidy back to the Malaysian people, I might say. Cos the gas stations within the border region will go bankrupt. More than 60% of their customers are foreign vehicles.

Extreme measures derived from extreme situations, eh?

    You reap what you sow...

Sorry, but after years of running huge gas-guzzlers you're now crying about the price of "Gas"..well boo hoo.

When your prices approach that of the UK (£1.15 PER LITRE) then perhaps you will have something to talk about..:behindsofa:

It all goes back to alternatives. Oil is finite and as long as the world is increasing its usage of the commodity, and the commodity is decreasing in availability the price will increase exponentially. So who will develop the alternative, how long until it is a viable alternative and how quickly can we assimilate it into every day life? Are the questions that need to be answered. Personally I've seen some amazing inventions developed in the near past regarding bio-diesels and bio-diesel production and I keep wondering where those products and their research are today. Starcycles Thunderstar used a 3 cylinder VW engine lightened for moto use that supposedly got around 150 mpg. Where is that bike today?

It's been six days and now it's $4.29 for regular, 3% increase in under a week. It's going to be a long summer, wrenching in the garage because it's too expensive to ride.

I am pretty certain that GM "took back" all of the EV1's and crushed them flat back in 2005. The last remaining Red EV1 is in the Petersen Automotive Museum and has been "disabled" by GM.

Rent "Who Killed the Electric Car" for the scoop.

That was a good documentry VT.

Funny watching capitalism work against itself. Made no sence to me.

GM, Toyota, Ford, create these electric cars for city drivers. They start to actually sell them, then they pull the plug? (Pun intended).

I haven't seen the documentary, but I did read the Wikipedia page on the EV1. I don't think it was capitalism working against itself, I think it was capitalism working exactly as designed. GM didn't make money on them, so regardless of whether it was good for the country/world, they dropped the project.

I just wish the price would come down on the Tesla and the Aptera project would get moving. I think both of those show some real potential.

I just went and bought gas for my truck and atv. I paid 3.98 a gallon for 91 octane and 4.98 a gallon for 110 octane. 5 years ago when I moved here I was paying 4.89 a gallon for the 110 octane turbo blue. If regular gets to $5 a gallon I will raising the compression in all of my vehicles to run the 110.

    Craig:

Just a warning about wikipedia. Anybody and I mean ANYBODY can type what 'history' they want on there so accuracy is not always top notch.

A simple case in point is Scientology. They are always trying to 'cleanse' any negative information about their belief system from wikipedia.

I can't find the article, but some kid figured out a way to decode who writes and submits stuff on wikipedia. It was great hacker work and was eye opening.
