    Hello everyone!

When I take off my slave and cover plate, start the bike in neutral and push on the pushrod with my finger, oil comes out. Is this definitely the pushrod oil seal? Could anything else cause this? How difficult to replace?

Are you pushing "in", or up and down? When you pull the push rod out, is it scored or grooved?

most seal leaks are too small to worry about; besides it helps lube your chain.

Pushrod is not scored or grooved in any way. When I push in on the rod, I am only emulating what the slave would do. As soon as I push straight in on the rod, oil runs out. And its not just a few drops! Too bad it doesnt lube my chain!!! It collects at the bottom of the cover and drips out onto my collector and smokes. I probably lose a quart in an hour ride! Im pretty sure its the pushrod seal as I cannot see any other way that oil could leak past to that point. Anyone ever changed one before? Nothing in the manual about it. Parts are available.

    that DOES sound serious!
I'm currently experimenting with an automatic trransmission "seal sweller" to see whether it will stop my fork seals from leaking.........will post results after further testing.....

If it is the kind of seal that has a circular metal housing that presses into the case externally, it should come out fairly easily by gently prying on it, once the pushrod is removed. The new one should have a bit of gasket sealer applied to the edge of the metal housing, and should be inserted as squarely as possible, i.e. tap it into place evenly.
