Hi, just wondering if anyone can give me a quick summary of the differences between the 06, 07, and 08 models. One dealer has a new 06 (black) and another one has a new 07 for sale.
    Thanks,
    J

06 thru 08 are the same except color options. They changed the V-Tec engagement to smooth it out in the 06+ models.

Okay, good to know. The new 07 is that throwback white/red/blue paint scheme. Don't think I've actually seen one. Have you? Does it look alright? I've always been a bit shy about the VFR's looks, but I suppose it could grow on me.

I think I do too. It takes some of the edges out of the styling.
Was thinking about the VFR because I want sportbike performance with a more comfortable riding position and good wind protection. Was also thinking about a Yamaha FZ1. Any experience with that bike?

In 2007 I was also looking at the FZ-1, I chose the VFR. I would read the reviews. The 2006 FZ1 had FI issues, the current FZ-1 has the previous gen R1 engine with 5 valves per cylinder. The new R1 however went back to 4 valves, for a reason, that being 5's more complicated. Not to say that VTEC is not complicated, but read the threads on this site on VTEC, I do not hear any issues as far as high maintenance - other than the 16K valve adjustment ~$800.

I thought there were some fuel injection mapping issues as well with the VFR, causing low end torque problems. Then they did a fix, right? In 2006?

Not sure about this issue. Some owners (search postings) report on/off throttle delay which is solved by power commander. I do not notice this hardly at all, to me its not significant to justify the loss in gas mileage with a PC.

I believe that the wiring harness recall applied to the '06, and not the '07. So that would probably mean the '08 is OK, also. Personally, I like all the VFR colors, but I went for the RWB because it sort of matches another old Honda I have.

The recall ended with the '05...........the rwb is nice, but, it would be nicer if they left off the red and blue....:bootyshake2:

    Norcal,

is right the wiring harness was fixed on the 06 and later models. I agree I do like the RWB model It is sharp looking but the ones without the red and blue are better looking. This ought to start some Shite. Pearl White forever, Sir.

I dunno.....the pearl white needs a little something to get it going. Probably a reflection of the driver....:pope2:
