For those of you who have met me, you know that I am a member of the National Guard here in Pa. Most of my unit has been deploied to Afganistan back in October. I opted to stay home for this one because of just returning from Iraq only a year earlier. Well my time has come and I was away all week getting processed and ready to be sent off again. This time it is back to Iraq. Opon returning home today I recieved news that my former platoon leader and good friend was killed on Tuesday from an IED(roadside bomb). He was killed instantly. Two other guys that are also friends of mine were injured in the attack. One is on his way to a hospital here in the states. The other was treated and returned to duity. The viewing is this week followed by a full military honors funeral the next day. So in the light of Memorial Day please remember the men who have served and are curently serving overseas. Also please honor the ones such as 1Lt Jeff DePrimo who have given the ultimalte sacrifice to defend and keep our country free. SGT Daniel Worthington. You have my deepest condolenses at the loss of your friend & comrade. Often, when I'm flying thousands of feet above the "action", I forget that there are thousands of people that are on the ground working their butts off to get the job done. Pass along this fly boy's thanks to all the ground pounders. No matter who, where or how, I can't help but have tears in my eyes when I hear the bugle at a military funeral. Whenever I deploy, getting on this site is one of the nice reminders of home. KC-10 FE out... lane: :usa2:
