It doesn't have a dedicated vent or anything like a quad, the cap just doesn't seal completely when seated in the tank, the cap should allow air to enter the tank.

Yes, the cap has a built-in vent. If you are having problems it doesn't hurt the clean it out. I stuff a few rags into the opening and spray carb cleaner into the vent. You'd be amazed how much black crap comes out.

On a side note: the vent is intended to allow air in but not really to let pressure out. On hot days you will get a small release of pressure when opening the cap, that is normal.

Good luck and let us know what you find out.

I'm not sure about the first reply, my cap has tight seal, here in Alb. the wind and the sand is so bad that if you don't have a good gasket on your gas cap you'll end up with a tank full of dirt.
The second reply I don't get where you stuff rags and spray the cleaner. It looks like theres a little tiny hole on the edge of the cap and in the center of the cap that goes in the tank is a plastic cap with some slots. I assume thats where it sucks air.
one more thing, it was so bad that it would build pressure with in seconds of putting on cap and then taking it off again with the bike off but just ridden in 80-90 heat.

The vent is inside the plastic cap with the slots. You stuff rags into the opening of the tank, where the gas is, to keep the garbage from running out of the cap and going into the gas. Just spray up into the valve through the holes. You'll want to spray both directions, out from the valve and in through the small hole on the outside. Basically you want to flood the entire cap with cleaner.

    Ok
But I still don't get the rag thing. Can't I just take the cap to the work bench spray it off dry it off then put it back on? so the little hole is open to the tank? If I was to blow on the little hole it should come out around the plastic peice?

Yes, I think Jamie is forgeting the VF500F gas cap comes off (it's not hinged like many Hondas) because like me he has a bunch of bikes and like me gets mixed up from time to time.

It took alot of spray but its now clear! Now when I spray in the little hole it comes out the center of the cap. On my next ride it should'nt have the mega pressure it did have.
