This may be more of a general motorcycle question, but I'll throw it out there:

I'm missing the handlebar electrical controls (switches and switch housings) on my '86 VFR700 project. Why is it so doggone hard to find aftermarket switches? I don't want to spend the exorbitant amounts for the OEM switches. Besides, the OEM switch is big and bulky.

Electrosport sells combination turn signal/horn/HILO/kill assemblies, but I can't seem to find start/run switch assemblies. Does anybody know where I can get one?

Just search eBay until one you like comes along. They all work the same, regardless of brand or make.

Just check that the bar diameter is the same as the bars on your VFR.

Thanks... you're right, there are plenty of switches, but I just realized a problem: the business end of the throttle pipe is also housed in the right handlebar switch assembly. So I have to either keep the old (non-functional) assembly on there just for the throttle and add an additional start switch assembly, or change out the handlebar throttle mechanism.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

That's going to be the case with most right switch assemblies. Probably just want to buy a stock one or better yet, disassemble the switch you have and clean it up so it works.

I have made several "inop" switches work like new again with a little work and some contact cleaner.
