Ok so I have alot to post here today. With all the help I have recieved here I thought It only appropriate and fair that i post this. I got my Insurance yesterday and my tags last night, It was raining yesterday so a ride so my would be First real ride had to be postponed till better weather came around. I have not test rode this yet after all the work i have done to it over the winter,so I went to work this morning as it was still raining here a little bit and the roads were soaked. Anyway About 8:30 this morning I bugged out of work because the sun was showing its face and was not predicted to all day here. I rushed home in anticipation of my first ride on the VFR, got home got dressed and headed out the door not knowing what to expect as far as the bike goes. I did F & R brakes, all new fluids, oil, antifreeze, clutch, brakes. New speedo cable, Carb check and bench syc myself, new plugs, new front sprocket and chain, new F brake switch, new fan switch and more that escape me for now. Needless to say I was expecting something to go wrong. I got 2 blocks from my house and I could smell burning Oil, oh sheet!! So I pulled over and took a look, oil was dripping off the shifter area of the motor but not bad. I was heading to Frank Kiss Honda as my first destination which is about 8 miles from my house so I decided to try to get there. I jumped onto rt 100 S ( a four lane highway) and was just waiting for the next thing to happen, to my surprise I made it to the dealer with no other problems. I got a good carb sync( the mech was impressed, they werent bad, it went quick) and he checked out the oil leak, bad shift seal. Luckily they had one in stock, so he installed it right away, all for 32.00 as a walk in. So I decided the best way to test this now was to get on to some twisties. Everthing went GREAT! No more problems the sun came out completly by the end of my ride. I got in 5 hrs of riding, 112 mi and two motorcycle dealers. I went to Blackmans Cycle in Emmaus also where, what do I see, another VFR, Red and was being diven out of the repair garage by the owner, I didnt get a chance to chat, he didnt stop. What a great day and good beginning to a long relationship with my new steed. The 15 tooth F sprocket is a-mazing!! What an improvement from stock. I saw some triple digits too, I had to do it, couldnt help myself. Riding season is here and Im ready!!! WOO...HOOO.....

Congrats on getting her all sorted just in time for spring!!! A buddy of mine decided to wait last minute to get his bike sorted before a ride tomorrow, and well....now he can't go. She's looking good. I also installeda different sprocket, however I went +2 in the rear, instead of -1 in fornt. Same overall result, and I definitely like the result.

ENTHUSIASM like that endures but is strongest in new riders.....do YOU rember those early, giddy, free, exciting days of riding yourself..... or has it gotten all so routine??

That first bike ranks right up with the first girlfriend as a rite of passage. Stepping off revently and removing your safety equipment, all dizzy after your ride and not too steady on your feet, few other thrills in life compare.

$32 for your mechanic? Wow! you should kiss them. That's the best deal I have ever heard of shy of just paying in beer (and you might lose out paying me that way...) Around here, it's a minimum of $60 if they look at your bike. You should give them as much of your business as you can if they are always that fair. And congrats on the ride. Have fun!

At least you got to ride today. I was supposed to go to the blessing of the bikes at Nurburgring today, but when I got up it was snowing, so I stayed home and watched the WSBK races instead. Enjoy the weather, I'm living/riding through you!!!
