The old girl let me down today

Been holed up in the garage for about a month - but managed to get her out for a run today.

Started poorly - actually started ok but idled badly then stopped. I got her going with loads of choke and she ran - got rid of choke before running. Went out but 2 miles down the road she started to splutter and stopped. Got her going again but only on full choke. Whenever I tried the throttle it died.

It would start on full choke after a few minutes rest each time but wouldn't take any throttle.

    help. where do I start

it's always helpful to mention what bike you have : year, engine size, model name....

sounds like dirty carbs , clogged fuel filter, or failing fuel pump

Don't trust the Squirrelman, it's probably damn squirrels in the air filter. He's always covering for them. ;)

On a bike that old I wouldn't be surprised if there is a little rust in your tank too. Drain out the old gas and check for any foreign particles. Then refill with fresh fuel and add some SeaFoam and then open the float bowl drain screws. I've used SeaFoam on lots of gas operated things and it works miracles. You may need to clean out your carbs/pilot jets or replace the fuel filter.

    Regards,
    Rollin

it's true that cheeky rodents (probably not sqwerls!) may have nested in airbox or nibbled through some wires.....but it's really not their fault: chewing genes are embedded in their DNA.

it's always better to try the SeaFoam remedy before diving into carbs...

1990 Red With White Wheels? What a piece of junk, forget it. It's a goner. Dead to this world.

    Sell it to me.

Seriously, this is all in fun. I am serious, I would buy it if it was for sale.

As far as getting it running, I would check the general condition inside your carbs. Pay particular attention to the diaphrams. I would also stretch the diaphram springs to 8". If you have any further questions, call Factory Pro & ask them what settings or jets they recommend.

    KC-10 FE out...
