I just heard that 4th Gen. wheels are lighter than 3rd Gen. Wheels and they should be interchangable. I'd like to drop some weight and make the switch. I have a 92' VFR 750f. Does anyone know if this info is correct?

I'll swap your 8 spoke for my 5 spoke 4th gen wheel. They will bolt right up.
I like the looks of the 8 spoke. I believe there is a rim width differance but I don't remeber which one is wider. I'd have to do a search on that.

I looked it up. your 8 spokes are 5.5" wide and the 4th gen are 5" wide. So, less spoke and narrower wheel would make it lighter. You would be restricted to stock 170 tire size due to the 5" width. (Although I have had 180's on the 5" rim, they pinch in and the profile is skewed.)
I'll still swap you straight across.

No no, Me, me :) Yep 4ths are lighter than 3rds, yep 3rds are 5.5" 4th 5." I've been on the fence as the wider tire slows down the turn in rate, besides I'm not out riding what I have so really it's a poser valve now IMO.. still... No no. Me me. :)

If you put a 4th gen wheel on a 5th gen, don't you have to notch out the wheel where bolts for the brake rotor are? I know if you try to put a 6th gen wheel on a 3rd gen you have to.

We are talking 3 to 4. Same wheel on the back.

Now, Dixon, what about that trade? :)

4th gen rear wheel is 12lbs. Same weight as a Marchesini five-spoke. Nice.
