I bought some carbs from someone for a 86. They do not have the fitting to plug in the vacume hoses. These are pressed in parts that cannot be bought or pulled from another set of carbs.

Are these carbs useable? can they be used without vacume hoses?

1.0 This picture is of the new carb. If you look at the top corner of the carb you see a hole. This is where the nozzle for the vacuum hose usually goes.

2.0 this is a picture of one of the parts that i believe one of the hoses go to. what does this part do?

3.0 Here is a picutre of one of my hoses and the nozzle that is in it. This is the part that is missing from the ones that i bought, you can see the part that comes out of the carb then bends up, below the vacuum hose.

Actually, Mike,......that's not the vaccum port but the mixture screw location. The other hole is the float bowl drain screw.

    Read that service manual !!

Taps to measure vacuum may be on rubber mounting boot or on cylinder intake tract....usually a 4mm allen or a phillips screw. aluminum or brass washer.

yours lo0oks like u have a Cali emissions-control bike that has valves and air hoses best eliminated. Some hoses need to be pugged and others open to atmosphere, removed and tossed in the bin.

I do have the cali version.

so am I to understand the vacuume hoses are ONLY for the emissions equipment? correct?

    This does make since.

as I said im a nooob to carbs. I had thought that the vacuum hoses were used for the functioning of the carbs.

    Thanks for the help again.
