Can't help it! get a new bike( 99 vfr) and have to start changing stuff! First is getting a manual so I can take it apart, then on this bike I'll stick to basics like brake pad upgrades, maybe shock replacement and what ever suspension mods give best bang for the buck. No bling if it dosn't contribute to improved handling, etc. Turning 61 this month so maybe I'm finally getting wiser. Whatever!

Here is a link to forum on the Specifications section of this site where you can download a copy of the factory service manual for the 1998-2001 VFR800. I downloaded a copy and it is immensely helpful. The file is quite large so it may take a while to download, so just be patient.

As far as suspension upgrades go, I would send a PM to Jamie Daugherty at Daugherty Motorsports. He is a member of this forum and I have one of his rear shocks installed on my 2000 VFR and it is by far the best money I have ever spent, and the difference in my bikes handling is amazing.

My favorite improvement was the Sargent seat to replace the stock. Next was a set of Heli-bars. I didn't get them in that order, but those are my two favorites. An Ohlins shock, stainless brake/clutch lines, HH brake pads, Yoshi slip-on, powder coated rims, all are nice though.

I would recommend the following ... in the following order.

    Sargent Seat
Superbar conversion with SS front brake lines
Supertrapp high rise exhaust (LOVE THAT SOUND!!!!!!:chaingun:)
    Daugherty fork upgrade
    Daugherty 929 rear shock conversion

I have yet to do the fork and shock upgrades, but the owner feedback is that they are the best bang for the buck. They are planned for next summer's riding season.
