Hello how's it going around the globe seems Ike we have a few Countries represented here and a lot of VFR fans.

I bought a 25th Anniversary Edit bike a few months back it's a bit rough under the plastic and my intentions are to do a semi restoration on her but the deeper I dig in the deeper down the rabbit hole I go.

The bike has 55k miles on it so that is another pending question that's holding me back from making the final decision to move forward.

I'm gonna post some pics and maybe the veterans here can kinda put in their 2 cents worth what would be the best future for the bike? It was running great until one oil cooler line developed a pin hole size leak, I already have a new set ready to go in, so I could just fix it ride it till it dies....

Or, keep going and tear it down and replace everything. I'm thinking just new front end since everything is showing so much wear n tear?

Also I do want to warn everyone here to avoid a Ebay seller going by 2WHEELDOCS he sold me a guage set for 08 but sent me a different set I think for an earlier bike had rpm and speed guages. Then he had me pay to return them so he could send me the correct set.
Well after the buyer protection had passed he went AWOL with my money and parts ...so buyer beware is all I can say...

Glad to be here and will post whatever project it is I decide to do.

Looking a bit rough, must have been kept outside a lot.
My 2002 is looking a little like yours, not as bad but certainly on its way. I had the forks off a few weeks ago to redo the seals and didn't have the time to polish them but I plan on doing it... someday. I was planning on watching some utube detailing videos to get an idea on where to start, maybe I will keep an eye on this thread now.
I'm sure there are more than a few guys here that will have valuable info on where to start and how to do it.
    Good luck with it.

They didn't use the best metal building these bikes I haven't seen this kind of corrosion on many 23yr old bikes. The oil sight glass shows some rust inside the motor if that's what I'm looking at when I pull the oil cooler lines the oil will tell me what the project is gonna lead to.

Assume you bought it locally ?

Vehicles will rust if kept in a salty atmosphere.

As suggested keep panels and look for a 25th Anni for sale in a dry state.
