So I notice that during my commute to and from work. There isn't really to many oppurtunities that I get to open it up on my Viffer. I make it a point on all my bikes to hit it and get WOT. I've always been told that it is good at times to just open it up and clear out the pipes. I can't really do this so much seeing as I am in traffic and highway patrol everywhere. In the long run, would I cause long term damage to the motor by not letting it kick in the v-tech and open it up. I do get oppurtunities during my ride home, but not really to often. My commute is 30 miles one way, am I tripping or should I throttle more often? Thanks

You can always hit 6800rpms in 4th for some fun. Exorcise the valves and vtec but don't let it eat at you. Most commuters don't get into vtec too often. No rule says you have to do it when you are in sixth.

I must be doing something wrong. I'm never done getting into v-Tech mode.

Back in the day it was more of an issue to wring out any engine once in a while and clear the carbon and such out. Not a big deal now adays with a well maintained bike. But if you really want to, you can always run it in third on the freeway for a bit.
