Not to be master of the obvious...but did anyone other than me save any of the info? And, just as obvious, is this site backed up in a way that the data will never be "lost?"

From the statement on FB from Miguel, there is/was an automated backup server, but for some reason it stopped backing up a year ago.
It is currently unclear to me what is still available on/from this backup server.

Been "off grid" for a few weeks for personal reasons. This morning felt the need for a catch up, tried to log in to VFRD only to get a caution message. I then went looking on VFR World and found the reason - So Sad! I had received much help from members over time, it was my first "Go to" for help.
Many thanks to all those who contributed to what has now passed. FB will never replace these two forums no matter what the young set say!

While not exactly ideal, pretty certain us VFR owners gonna be ok.
Similar happened to the main FZ1 forum not too long ago and most of us just rolled over to the other one.

Hi, I have setup a new forum vfrdiscussion.nl and hope to see you there!
The community is still out there and the earlier archived knowledge can be rebuild.

My personal efforts in getting access to the vfrdiscussion.com data has been unsuccessful.
I really hope that the other 11 people that showed interest in recovering the data will be successful.

I can only offer my services and the new forum.

Thanks for updating about VFRdiscussions. I joined vfrdiscussions 6 months ago and in a short time I got to witness the knowledge base that existed there. If there is a desire to integrate the archival data into a existing site for historical reference I would be interested.

Sorry to see it go, I remember it started on Delphi forums or some such, then grew.
Miguel did a great job, thanks to you Hispanic Slammer! After selling my 80,000+ mile VFR I eventually faded away to other bike sites.
VFRD had a good run. That's about all you can ask. These day I have an SV650 and a Versys 650LT (with hard bags).

    Ride safe everyone.

Didn't you roll into an Aprilia for a while after selling the VFR?

I went to the Ducati Monster 1200 in my avatar after selling the VFR. Still had the 2003 Tuono then, but sold it later. In 2022 traded the Duc for a new SV650 since I was moving 150 miles from the nearest Duc dealer and it loved visiting the dealer. Bought a 21 Versys 650 2 weeks ago for something more comfortable.

Kept that VFR far longer than any other bike I've had, 17 or 18 years. I'll be past 80 in another 17 years and lucky if I can still ride. Plan to keep doing it as long as I can.

Somewhere in my computer there still should be a pic of Miguel and Me and ULEWZ amd others in a restaurant in Monterey, for Laguna
Seca races. Can't find it but came up with this. Seems worth re posting.

Oh hell Lee. I turned 71 today and I still ride my 06 from time to time. That ol beatch is 20 years old and has over 234,000 km on it now and it still purrs. I have a 2026 Gold Wing now which gets most of my attention these days but truthfully, I like riding the VFR more. I don't have to worry about a dead battery because I got the cardiologist to wire a couple extra leads to the implantable defibrillator they put into my chest so I can just jump start the dead batteries with that. If that battery goes dead, our health care system pays for new ones.

When I can no longer manage the Wing, I will trade that off on a new Spyder. Never say never. Live or die I say.

Oh no, I have not quit riding. I will gladly quit when I am dead. Before then, not so gladly but stuff happens.
I was with one bike for the last few years, until recently.
    For now I gotta SV650 and a a VS650.

I think I was appointed a Mod but never did anything with it. ULEWZ too I think. Have not seen him in years. Both of us retired and moved away.

Did anyone get access to the VFRD data? I have not been active there, I didn't even have an account, but I recently got a 5th gen, and while searching for stuff related to it that forum popped up every time, always with great information, before just disappearing soon thereafter. Would be a real shame if all of that knowledge disappeared.

I would be more than willing to make a public database, preferably searchable and indexed by Google so that it could help as many of us as possible. Does anyone have the email to Miguel?
