Yeah, want to make a bike decsion based on the stock tires. Cause really, if those suck, you will never be able to fix that. You will be stuck on those tires for the rest of the time you have the bike really, and if they are no good...

Oh, wait, that isn't true at all. Besides being a consumable, they are one of the easiest parts of a bike to "fix" if one so desires.

Sorry for the "edit" but had similar feelings myself when went to a Honda sponsored Blade blast track day, got to to do 4 alternate 15 minute sessions between the CBR1000RR and my VFR.

The Blade was indeed faster and with superior handling everywhere than the VFR around the track but besides the feeling of the force of air trying to push me off the 1000RR at 260kph down the front straight  got off it thinking the Blade while pretty much faultless on the track and much easier to ride fast felt no real attachment or bonding  , was far happier getting back on and riding my growling VFR home.

Have you guy's ever tried a RC51 ??? I've had several & racing one right now.

They have more torque than you will ever need, They are comfortable on long distant rides with a Corbin seat & 1" taller bars (i took one of mine like that on 1600 mile weekend jaunts all the time). It's rarer than a VFR, looks awsome, handles Better than a CBR1000RR (I know I had both & turned 8 to 15 second faster lap times on the RC51 than my 1000RR).
They are the closest thing to my old VFR1000 I've own'd, but faster & handles better.
There still available & hold there value better than any other sport bike. & if the riding position is to Sport/Race for you, theres alway's the Super Hawk, but in my opinion it's ugly looking.

Drove one a bit last fall..Is the closest thing I have driven that fits me and has same comfort and feel as my vfr.Just felt a bit longer, otherwise I loved it!. One of the few new bikes I would pick from for my next one..I think it will be great for the long rides..and. yep itsa faster! But the rest is awesome! Not interested in a tanker bike version like a connie myself, this is fat enough! :)

And one will have to get over the power thing or go broke with tires..:) I am on my 3rd rear with the vfr since last Aug, so one can be silly with any bike!

Ever get a chance, try one out! I am hoping to pick up a 2 yr old one next fall to replace my vfr.

Still think a RC51 in VFR cloths would make for a great bike, even make it a 1100

If the VFR's v4 didn't exist I'd certainly want a vTwin and the RC51 does have a stonking motor, hmmm...

Close, the 90km twisties as marked on the Vic side or 105km's as marked on the N.S.W side starts at Cathcart and ends in Orbost does include 17km of dirt road which for some reason scares off some riders but then they are missing out on the brilliant and continual left, right, left, right, tight 71km's of knee trembling twisties.

Next morning took in Victoria's Lake Entrance's fantastic twisties up to Mount Hothem on a perfect traffic free morning before heading up the Alpine Way Khancoban to Jindybine which is quite entertaining just on its own.

Should have added this (rumoured to be) 1038 cornered road is otherwise known as " The Bonang " , OzVFR did a run down there last weekend, unfortunately the weather and conditions wasn't kind to them. :frown:

Yep, just had a look on Oziexplorer (GPS moving map software) and it looks like an awesome road. Will have to travel it some day.
