Hi, this is my first post

i had recently bought a 1998 vfr800 engine from a guy that had parted out the bike completely. I thought that this was a good motor to put in a lawn mower. Upon bringing it home and going through the parts i had realized that there were several parts missing and EVERYTHING was disconnected. I am wondering how to wire up my motor so it'll run since i have several unused wire connectors which concerns me if

    What I have,
    Engine
    Wiring harness
    Ignition coils
    Throttle bodies
    Airbox filter
    Map sensor
    Ecm
    Key switch

    What I do not have
    Instrument cluster/panel
    Headlight tail lights
    Side stand center stand switches
fuel pump... could i use a regular fuel pump since it is going in a lawn mower?

Any help would be much appreciated

You will need a fuel pump suitable for fuel injection from memory the pressure is 250 kPa. There are also relays for the fuel pump, and a bank angle sensor which shuts the fuel system off if the bike tips over. You would be able to jumper that as well as the side stand and clutch switch. Best you get hold of the wiring diagram.

how fast do you intend to cut the grass as well? the 35HP Yamaha engine on the Hustler mower moves pretty good.

Look for a used walker mower if you need a chassis, it could be a drop in.

I got my VFR from a mate who wanted to use the motor on a log splitter but he thought mounting the motor was going to be too difficult so he didn't go ahead. Must have been planning on splitting big logs. And now he wants me to build him a rideon mower with a 72 inch cut to be able to cut on a steep hill. Maybe a VFR motor might be suitable for this

I was going to build this as a shits and giggles kind of thing not intended to cut grass otherwise I have a good mower that cuts the grass just fine.

Reminds me of the episode of Tool Time where he put a jet engine on a garden tractor, hilarious.

We actually kicked around the idea of making a UTV with it. I'd say it would be good for 80 MPH, through the woods and mud, airborne, while drunk at night.

Lots of motorcycle engine powered vehicles from way back. The early JAP powered Morgans. Many of the GP race drivers in UK cut their teeth on 500cc powered racecars. Stirling Moss for one.. Some nifty later versions of same on Google Images.. "motorcycle engine powered vehicles"

Even a few aircraft including drones with Motoguzzi engines and a few Rotax powered light aircraft.

Maybe even a little fudging by stuffing a bike engine into one of those racing lawnmowers.

Well now me, thinks it ain't Harley powered and the two blokes are of the female persuasion..

Got a pic somewhere of my sis driving a dunebuggy that started life with a Yamaha two stroker and ended up with a Honda 500 4 engine.

First shifter kart I ever saw had the same engine built by Ed (Ironman) Kretz and Ed Kretz Jr. Both holders of AMA National numbers.

If HD built airplanes, would you fly? LOL

I would apply most of the power to the auger. It will throw the snow 200 feet. Bonus: The same unit acts as a shredder. (Not a chipper. You will find only find sawdust on the output.)
