I have an 84 VF700F that I plan to Streetfighter over the winter when I cant ride it. Gonna paint everything, engine out and repair a few leaks while it is out. Probably take care of a few other things, mods, etc. while im at it since I will have a couple of months that I wont be riding. My Question is does anybody know of an aftermarket Tach/Speedo unit that works right on these bikes? Preferably a digital 2in1 unit if anyone know of one that works please let me know. I really do not want to order something to find out it will not work and then have to try to get my money back out of it. That and the headlight are the only two things I am hung up on, and I am about 80% decided on the headlight I am going to use.

I have a Trail tech vapor on my Yamaha single. They have speedo, tach, temp, odo and timers. The unit is configurable . The display is nice and bright.

It does look like a nice unit. However from what I got from their website they are ordered model specific and they are an off road parts company. I may have to call them to see if they have a kit that works with the VF700 chassis and engine.

The units are identical. They have a variety of temperature sensors and clips for mounting the speedometer sensor (which can be improvised). Don't let the "dirt aspect" of the company throw you. If you call them they are quite knowledgeable.

Ok thank you for the guidance, I really do like that unit and will probably use it. The cost for them is good too.

It is a pretty versatile unit. It runs fine even without a battery on the bike. The basic memory functions are powered by watch battery and the main unit powers up with a backlight on when the engine starts. It will run off either AC or DC regulated or not which is great if you are running it on an off road machine.

There are two threaded holes on the back and I just bolted it to the headlight nacelle.
