Has anyone ever used a 87 Vf700 Magna starter on an 87 vfr700f2. Internally the Magna starter has four spring copper brushes The VFR has one. The Magna has one more washer on the spline gear, other than that they look the same and bolt up the same. does anyone see a problem swapping out the Magna on the VFR.

    Thanks

Make sure it turns the same way. Some are left others are right.

What direction does the VFR turn. This is a salvage bike that is missing the starter not to mention my first VFR.
    Thanks

The shaft driven V-4's of the mid 80's turn opposite of the same era VFR's.

    Won't work...

On my '83 VF750 the starter has a "R" stamped on it, and turns to the right (according to how you look at it) My '82 Sabre's starter looks exactly like it, but has a "L" stamped on it and it turns the other direction. My guess would be that your VF will need an "R" starter. You could try it, though. If it is turning the wrong way, it won't hurt anything, the engine just won't turn over, the starter clutch won't let it.
