I've been researching sealed, AGM, batteries to replace the stock VF500F lead-acid battery.

So far I my web search has found the following replacement options:

    • MotoBatt MB12U
    • Adventure Power UT12C
    • Scorpion YT12C

I was wondering if anyone has had experience with these (or other) maintenance free batteries, for the VF500F.

Any intel (fit, performance, durability) would be most appreciated.

On a side note I contacted Odyssey Batteries on the off chance that they offer a replacement for a YB12A-A. They wrote back and said that it isn't on the clipboard now, but that they may consider this in the future.

    Thx!

Hey Jon...I'm in the same boat as of today. Even though the '85 500 is on a Tender, it's a Walmart NeverStart, and I had to jump it off today. What did you end up buying? I'm seeing a Ballistic or a Shorai (my new 800 came with a Shorai, and it's been good so far.) in my searches, neither of which you mentioned, and the one's you mentioned were not in my search.

I've rotated thru the old non-maintenence-free batteries on everything else in the garage, the 500s are the last ones to get upgraded when they finally die.

    Oh...just saw this. Hmmm...

I just picked up a universal power (UP) battery for $39 on eBay. I have not installed it yet but will give feedback as soon as I do.

Wow! And, I thought, Texas Toast was served with something black, like "Java?"

Seriously good stuff there ^ Mellow,,,I gota read it more thoroughly...Just for the record, I like the Yuasa maintenance free stuff, but I have been known to keep one of the old distilled water batteries around just to power some stuff as they can always be revived...enough just for testing stuff that is...
