Hi, I know this is strictly a VFR board, but I understand there's quite a bit of compatibility between VFR/VF ... Two queries, please. 1. Any idea if there are any "compatible" fork tubes I can use to replace the existing ones on my VF500C? I believe these are 37mm, but presumably it isn't just the diameter that needs to be correct. I found this page: This page contains info for people who are interested in customising their own Rebel which suggests I might be able to use VFR750 tubes? 2. Is there any general "parts compatibility" site/brochure I can find or buy to help me work out what "common" parts I can use, since I'm having a lot of trouble sourcing replacement parts for this bike, and suspect I'll have more ... Many thanks! Alex
Try this site honda clutch partsmanual fiche vf500f 500 interceptor 1985 vf500. Click on the part you're looking at and it will tell you (if applicable) every other bike it was used on. I guess I didn't notice yours was a C. Either way, that site should work, just follow links back to the right bike.
Thanks Thanks Slippy; I've taken a look, but unfortunately (according to the site) this part seems exclusive to the VF500. That said, I DID finally find a site that sell stanchions for this bike: The UK’s biggest choice of motorcycle parts for Japanese and European machines. So if the worst comes to the worst, I can get new ones here, though it seems it might be worth my while having a go at mending them: Fork Tube Repair - pits in chrome, etc. - VentureRider.Org Best, Alex
interesting article in your link - don't know that I like doing fork seals so much that I'd use any epoxy filler though. Would expect VFS and VFR to have shorter tubes per the same cc (more rake on VFC) Did you compare the lengths (VF750S vs yours maybe)? Your proflie says US any reason ur going to UK for ur part? Hi gronk, I must have set up my profile wrong -- I'm in the UK. Though I should really replace the stanchions, I heard today the garage had got through the MoT with the new seals. That said, I see that 2 years ago it had failed another MoT on leaking seals, so I've a suspicion the problem was the stanchions all along, and the current seals will wear through pretty quick until I get this sorted ...
