What can you find out from the serial number on the motor?

I'm wondering if the motor on my bike is the original.

For one, VF500F head gaskets are referenced by the engine serial number.

Specific to your question, the '86 engine and applicable frame numbers (non-California) are:

    Engine: PC12E-2200001 to 2207251
    Frame: PC120-GM200001 to GM202293

    Hmmmm.....yes.

    I guess it does.

I just assumed it was most likely not the factory motor since it's rolling over to 60,000kms soon.
