Just wondering if anyone has ever tuned their VF500 in an effort to get as much HP as possible, while keeping it reliable? It's just an inquiry.
    Thank in advance.....

Mine has Cobra F1R's, A stage 2 jet kit, K/N filter, +1 rear sprocket. thats about as far as I've gotten so far. Goes pretty good I can keep up with most newer 600's up until about 120mph. everyone is surprised that it is a 500 most think it's alot bigger. sounds pretty good to.

The 500's are not going to win any power contests, that is for sure. A good 4-1 (rare as hen's teeth) is the start to anything. A set of Megacycle cams is a good idea. The best thing to do is get a set of custom pistons and bump the compression up at least a whole point and also have the heads ported. You'd be lucky to push close to 80hp with all of those mods, so you might want to weigh out the cost/benefit. The money would be much better spent investing in the suspension, in my opinion.

Are there still cams avalable for these bikes? Im trying to come up with a plan as to what all to upgrade on my 750. Already have the suspension somewhat figured out..its just a matter of sourcing the parts there..its the performance im trying to figure out

Sure. I'm pretty sure Megacycle still has them as does Webcams. You'll have to call each to verify this though, I'm just going on my most recent information. Personally, I think Shadbolt is the best choice as they will grind whatever you want to your stock cores. They are also fairly reasonably priced, cheaper than Megacycle or Webcams.
