So, I wanted Powerlets... two up front. The Powerlet website only has a kit for left fairing and steering stem install (and passenger foot peg bracket for rear), but I already have a Techmount in my steering stem. I talked to my buddy David, who is the one that owns the '86 VFR I posted up a week or so ago. He knows his way around bikes and electrics, talked to Powerlet and was told you can't install a Powerlet on the right fairing. Well, I guess they were wrong... He picked up JUST the Powerlet Outlets from a BMW dealer here, bought wire, ends, fuse receptacles, and cut/fit his own wiring to make it work. Yeah, it's a little bit of a tight fit since the regulator is right there, but it fits and works great!! So, now I have two power sources up front, and had it done much less expensive than buying the kit from Powerlet!! Next I gotta figure out how to afford that Supercharger kit and I'll be all set!!
Hee-hee! I know... most bikes I usually sell/trade in after 3 years or 20K miles, whichever comes first, so I don't bother doing mods. Why put the money into it when I won't get the money back when I sell? I've had the VFR about 2.5 years, and have just under 25K miles on it, and I'm not even close to wanting to sell or get anything different. I decided to go ahead and let the modding begin!! I AM starting to get involved in dirt bike/adventure riding, but I found a group where many of the members have extra bikes that they are willing to let me use, so I can do that in addition to the VFR rather than in place of.
